Will the DBB giants also dominate Slovenia with Luka Doncic?
After Serbia’s elimination, the 2023 world champions are now the clear favorites to win gold. This assessment is not really surprising, as the DBB team has plowed through this tournament so far, dominating at will and winning all six matches.
Nevertheless, the European Championship so far has shown that the favorites are having a very difficult time against the supposed underdogs. The Slovenians want to prove the same in their quarterfinal against Dennis Schröder, Franz Wagner, and Co. However, a “one-man show” by Luka Doncic will probably not be enough for the “Junaki” prediction to come true between Germany and Slovenia.
It is also clear, however, that another stellar performance from the Lakers star will be needed to even stand a chance against the Germans’ team spirit. Doncic has averaged 34 points and 7.2 assists so far in the tournament. In all games, the tall guard, who makes a (relatively) extremely fit impression, has been his team’s top scorer. However, the goal of the DBB giants should not necessarily be to take “Luka Magic” completely out of the game, but instead to bring their own style of play to the court.
This means that the 2023 world champions will push the accelerator at every possible opportunity, taking almost all open shots from positional attacks and at the same time finishing quickly after rebounds or steals via fast breaks. No other team at this Euro Basket is scoring more points on average (102.3). The DBB selection also leads the rankings in field goal percentage and steals. Unsurprisingly, my Germany vs. Slovenia prediction clearly favors the favorites. At NEO.bet, you can get odds of 1.80 for a handicap win with a difference of at least 13 points.
If you’re too nervous to bet on a German landslide victory against the 2017 European champions in the knockout round, you should take a closer look at the odds for over points before the Euro Basket 2025 quarterfinal between Germany and Slovenia. After all, the two strongest offensive teams in this tournament are facing each other.
The DBB men have scored in triple digits in four of six games. Slovenia has also never scored less than 84 points, but at the same time has conceded more than 100 points twice. This makes the 2.45 odds on Germany scoring at least 100 points on Wednesday evening in Riga all the more interesting. You can bet on this top odds in the Betano app.
Germany – Slovenia Head-to-head comparison / H2H record
In preparation for this tournament, the national teams met twice in early August. Both times, the DBB team came out on top. A 103-89 victory was followed by a well-deserved 80-70 win. The last competitive game at the 2023 World Cup in Japan even ended 100-71 for the eventual world champions from Germany. Curiously, Schröder, Wagner, and Co. were trailing by 14 (!) points after the first quarter.
Currently, the title favorites appear to be so solid and confident that a start-to-finish victory seems likely. If the Slovenians get caught up in the Germans’ wild style of play, they could be facing a heavy defeat… The higher the total score, the greater the likelihood of a clear victory for the 2022 European Championship bronze medalists.
Germany – Slovenia Tip
Germany has played six games at this Euro Basket so far. The team led by NBA stars Wagner and Schröder not only celebrated six victories, but also won all matches by at least 19 (!) points. In the last three games, the average winning margin was even 40 (!) points. The DBB team is – especially after Serbia’s elimination against Finland – the measure of all things in European basketball. Everyone now expects them to win the European Championship title. Not even Luka Doncic and his Slovenian team will be able to change that.
The Germans focus on teamwork. This was underlined not least by the decision of national coach Alex Mumbru to voluntarily step down for health reasons and place his trust in his assistant Alan Ibrahimagic as head coach. The team chemistry could hardly be better, and the fast-paced style of play also invites further handicap bets. Against this backdrop, I recommend betting on the favorites to win by at least 13 points in the Germany vs. Slovenia match. I’m betting six units on the offered 1.80 odds.
