Catalans face must-win game

Before Wednesday’s big game in the Champions League, in which FC Barcelona hosts PSG, the Catalans still have a home game in La Liga to play. Real Sociedad are the visitors, an opponent who has often been difficult to play against in recent years. However, things have not been going well for the Basques so far this season.

After a weak last season, the club parted ways with coach Imanol Alguacil in the summer and brought in Sergio Francisco as his replacement. The 46-year-old previously coached the San Sebastian club’s second team for three years and has now been given the chance to prove himself in the first team. However, this has not yet been crowned with success.

With only two points from the first five league games, the coach was already under massive pressure during the week in the duel with Mallorca, who are also in crisis. Thanks to a narrow 1-0 win, Francisco has managed to save his neck for now, but the Basques are still a long way from the form they showed in previous years. It is therefore unlikely that “La Real” will be able to hold their own against the Catalans, which is why a bet on a clear victory for the favorites should be placed on Barcelona vs. Real Sociedad.

The Blaugrana’s start to the season has been completely different. In their second season under Hansi Flick, the Catalans are playing exhilarating soccer and have 16 out of a possible 18 points after six matchdays. The only blemish on an otherwise near-flawless start to the season is that their great rivals Real Madrid have two more points to their name.

But apart from that, everything is running like clockwork for the Catalans. With 19 goals, Hansi Flick’s team once again has by far the best offense in the league, and the reigning Spanish champions’ defense is also very solid, having conceded just four goals. The outstanding attack led by the newly crowned winner of the Kopa Trophy for the world’s best young player and Ballon d’Or runner-up Lamine Yamal is also the reason why the prediction for Barcelona vs. Real Sociedad promises more than 3.5 goals. The best odds for this bet can be found at Oddset, where you can even play a ten-euro free bet.

However, there is also a downside for FC Barcelona. The return to Camp Nou, which was actually planned for the start of the season, continues to be postponed. As the city administration still sees safety deficiencies in the new arena, the Catalans are not allowed to return to their home ground for either the match against “La Real” or PSG. Instead, the Blaugrana must continue to play at the unpopular Olympic Stadium.

However, that shouldn’t stop Hansi Flick’s team from dominating the match against Francisco’s team and securing an easy victory. To get slightly higher odds on Barcelona vs. Real Sociedad, it might be worth betting on the home team to be ahead at halftime. So far, the Catalans have won both the first half and the game in every home game.

Barcelona – Real Sociedad Head-to-head record

In a direct comparison, the reigning Spanish champions naturally have the upper hand. Nevertheless, the Basques have shown in the past that they can cause problems for Barça. La Real have won two of the last five encounters between the two sides. Sergio Francisco’s team should therefore not be underestimated.

Barcelona – Real Sociedad  Tip

Even though the Basques have upset the mighty FC Barcelona on occasion in the past, the Catalans face a must-win game on this seventh matchday. In contrast to Sergio Francisco’s team, which is already under pressure early in the season, “Barca” has made an excellent start to the season. A clear victory for the favorites is therefore to be expected.

If you want to cash in on even higher betting odds for Barcelona vs. Real Sociedad, you can also bet on Hansi Flick’s team to win the first half and the game. Furthermore, there is also the option of betting on more than 3.5 goals.
