Will the Lions knock the Vikings’ horns off?

A tough NFC North duel is coming up on Sunday evening at prime time at 7:00 p.m. in our Lions vs. Vikings tip. But it could be clearer than expected before the season. Why? Because the Vikings are changing quarterbacks again and have to throw JJ McCarthy in at the deep end after his injury.

Carson Wentz, who had been performing poorly, needs surgery, so McCarthy will start again on Sunday. This is a disadvantage, as the entire offensive system now has to adjust to a different quarterback.

The Lions, who are coming off their bye week and should be well-rested, will most likely take advantage of these changes in Minnesota. Just before their break, they didn’t give the Buccaneers a chance at home in Ford Field.

It could be a similar story on Sunday, which is why our prediction for Lions vs. Vikings is a clear home win for Minnesota. There should also be a few more total points scored than the 36 from last week. Kick-off for the NFC North matchup is on Sunday at 7:00 p.m. in Detroit.

Detroit Lions – Minnesota Vikings Head-to-head comparison / H2H record

The Vikings have been dominating the Lions for some time now. Detroit has won all five of their last meetings, averaging 31.2 points per game. They could reach that number again on Sunday. Especially if the Vikings struggle offensively and Detroit frequently regains possession of the ball.

Detroit also leads the Vikings in all relevant statistics. They score an average of 8.6 more points per game, concede 1.5 fewer, and with a +6 turnover ratio, they are a full 10 points better than the Vikings (-4).

In this respect, the odds for a Detroit win with a handicap of up to -8.5 points are also playable in Lions vs. Vikings. If the handicap is a little too clear-cut for you, you can also bet on the Lions for the half-time/full-time result, as they should be in control from the start.

Detroit Lions – Minnesota Vikings Tip

There is little to suggest that the Vikings will win on Sunday. Only Justin Jefferson has delivered as usual recently, being targeted 43 times over the last four weeks. Youngster JJ McCarthy will do the same again, which gives us further exciting betting options.

So, for Lions vs. Vikings, the betting odds on a touchdown by Jefferson are a recommendation. If we combine this bet with a mandatory Gibbs TD (he already has 6 this season), we can raise the combined odds to a strong 3.70. With a small stake, this is our top recommendation for this game.

Another betting option here is Vikings under points in the game. With JJ McCarthy likely not yet back to 100%, the Vikings could come away from drives without points more often than usual. We therefore consider Minnesota under 19.5 points to be realistic.
