The final game for Paul Simonis?
On Sunday evening, in the last game of the 9th matchday in the Bundesliga, VfL Wolfsburg will face TSG Hoffenheim at the Volkswagen Arena. Both teams were eliminated from the DFB Cup during the week: The Wolves lost 0-1 to Holstein Kiel, while Sinsheim lost a hard-fought penalty shootout 7-8 to St. Pauli.
Ahead of the Wolfsburg vs. Hoffenheim game, bets on over goals are very popular. In the 17 previous encounters at the Volkswagen Arena, there have been at least three goals on 15 occasions – the other two games ended 1-1.
In the league, VfL recently secured their second win of the season with a 1-0 victory at HSV, putting them in twelfth place. However, their elimination from the cup against Kiel marked the Wolves’ fifth winless home game this season and their third consecutive home defeat without scoring a goal. In addition, the defense has recently been vulnerable: In their last four home games, Wolfsburg have conceded a goal in the first half. We therefore predict another goal in the first 45 minutes in our Wolfsburg vs. Hoffenheim prediction.
Hoffenheim, on the other hand, won 3-1 against Heidenheim for the second time in a row in the league and are now level on points with SGE in seventh place. TSG are unbeaten in six away games across all competitions, winning three of their four Bundesliga away games, with at least two goals scored in each of those games. In our Wolfsburg vs. Hoffenheim prediction, we are therefore again assuming that Hoffenheim will remain unbeaten – and that there will be at least two goals in the game.
If you are betting on another away win for TSG, the Wolfsburg vs. Hoffenheim odds are 2.35 at Betano.

So if you bet on a turnaround for Simonis’s team, you would get good value!
Wolfsburg – Statistics & current form
VfL Wolfsburg finally celebrated a success again recently: after six Bundesliga games without a win, Paul Simonis’s team celebrated their second victory of the season on the last matchday. The Wolves last achieved two wins in a row in a Bundesliga season in January 2025 – against Borussia Mönchengladbach and Hoffenheim. Accordingly, hopes are high that they will now repeat this streak.
However, their home form continues to speak for itself: Wolfsburg have not won in twelve Bundesliga home games (seven draws, five defeats) – currently the longest streak in the league and also a negative club record. In the entire 2025 calendar year, the Lower Saxony club managed only one home win in front of their own fans, a 5-1 victory over Borussia Mönchengladbach in January. Most recently, VfL failed to score in two consecutive home games – the last time that happened was in October 2020. There has only been one instance of three consecutive goalless home games in the Wolves’ Bundesliga history, also back then.
VfL always scores!
However, the record against Hoffenheim is positive: Wolfsburg have lost only one of their last seven competitive games against TSG (four wins, two draws, one defeat) – the 3-1 defeat in Sinsheim in September 2023. The Green-Whites are unbeaten in four games (two wins, two draws); Wolfsburg have never gone longer than five consecutive games without defeat against the Kraichgauers. In addition, VfL have scored in all 17 of their Bundesliga home games against Hoffenheim – Wolfsburg have played more home games against no other team and have always scored a goal.
There are also rays of hope on an individual level: new signing Adam Daghim has scored in two of his first three Bundesliga starts, making him the first Wolfsburg player since Borja Mayoral in 2017 to achieve this feat. The young striker has already scored two goals in six league games for VfL – the same number he scored in 33 games for RB Salzburg in the Austrian Bundesliga. You can secure odds of 3.20 for another goal from the Dane in the Wolfsburg vs. Hoffenheim game.

Hoffenheim – Statistics & current form
TSG Hoffenheim are currently in strong form and have won two Bundesliga games in a row for the first time under coach Christian Ilzer. They failed to achieve this feat in the entire previous season. TSG last recorded three wins in a row in a single season in August and September 2023, when they even managed four in a row.
Their away record is particularly impressive: with ten points from their first four away games (three wins, one draw), Hoffenheim has made the second-best away start in the top flight in the club’s history – only 2023/24 was better with twelve points. In the current 2025/26 away table, TSG is in second place behind Bayern Munich. The Kraichgauers already have as many away wins as they did in the entire previous season. In our Wolfsburg vs. Hoffenheim prediction, we believe that they will remain unbeaten away from home and that there will be at least two goals in the game – as has been the case in every Hoffenheim away game so far.
Kramaric and Asllani deliver
Hoffenheim is also currently impressing individually with strong offensive performances. Andrej Kramaric has scored once in each of the last two Bundesliga games and also set up a goal – the first time he has done so in his long Bundesliga career (294 games). The Croatian has a total of nine assists in 2025 – only Bayern’s Michael Olise (13) has more in the league.
Fisnik Asllani is currently Hoffenheim’s most dangerous goalscorer. With five goals, he has been directly involved in a third of all 15 goals scored this season. Particularly noteworthy: Asllani scored four of his five goals away from home, sharing the league’s highest tally with Harry Kane. In our Wolfsburg vs. Hoffenheim prediction, we are tipping another goal for the striker, which would further improve his away goal ratio.

Wolfsburg – Hoffenheim Head-to-head record
In the 36 competitive matches between VfL Wolfsburg and TSG Hoffenheim to date, the Wolves have a slight edge. Wolfsburg have won 17 of those encounters, while Hoffenheim have come out on top ten times; nine matches ended in a draw. The goal difference also slightly favors the Lower Saxony club: 70:56. This shows that Wolfsburg not only scored more points overall, but also played more effectively in attack.
Wolfsburg – Hoffenheim Tip
VfL Wolfsburg is currently struggling with its home form and has now gone twelve Bundesliga games without a win. Most recently, it has suffered three consecutive defeats across all competitions without scoring a goal – the last four home games started with the team trailing. The tide is set to turn against Hoffenheim, as the Wolves have lost only one of their last seven direct encounters and are unbeaten in four games against TSG. In addition, the Lower Saxony side have scored in all 17 Bundesliga home games against the Kraichgauers – they have no such streak against any other team.
TSG Hoffenheim have been very consistent away from home this season, recording the second-best start to a Bundesliga campaign in the club’s history: they are unbeaten in four away games and have won three times. In the head-to-head between Wolfsburg and Hoffenheim, the betting odds for another away win are 2.35. With Fisknik Asllani, TSG also has a very successful new addition to the team: the Kosovar has already contributed five of the 15 goals this season – four of which he scored away from home.
