Will Gala make history against the Unionistes?
Galatasaray got off to a terrible start in the Champions League group stage with a 5-1 defeat at Eintracht Frankfurt. However, the Lions not only recorded a 1-0 home win against Liverpool, but also beat Bodö/Glimt (3-1) and Ajax Amsterdam (3-0).
If Galatasaray’s tip for the next three points against Union St. Gilloise comes true, Gala would have won four international competitive games in a row for the first time in the club’s history and made history in the process.
It is somewhat curious that today’s visitors from Belgium have experienced the complete opposite. The Unionistes won 3-1 away at PSV Eindhoven on the first matchday, somewhat surprisingly, but then suffered three defeats in a row, conceding a total of eleven goals. Against this backdrop, Gala must be considered the favorites. However, because the Lions have never won against a Belgian club in eight attempts (four draws, four defeats) and are also suffering from a veritable injury crisis, we are shying away from tip 1 and instead opting for a bet that at least three goals will be scored at Rams Park in our Galatasaray vs. Union St. Gilloise prediction.
The bet on over 2.5 goals also makes perfect sense given that the reigning Belgian champions have lost their last three Champions League games because they have conceded at least three goals in each of them. In addition, Cimbom has overcome its recent scoring slump. After two consecutive league games without a goal, they won 3-2 at home against Genclerbirligi in Saturday’s dress rehearsal, with Ilkay Gündogan among the scorers.
Interestingly, Gala scored all three goals in the second half of that game, which is why the odds for more goals being scored in the second half than in the first should be considered for Galatasaray vs. Union St. Gilloise.
Galatasaray vs. Union St. Gilloise Prediction AI
Also because of the packed infirmary, we hesitate from a human perspective to log in the tip for a Cimbom home win. Meanwhile, AI has no reservations, as the AI prediction for Galatasaray vs. Union St. Gilloise clearly favors the Lions, with Merkur Bets offering odds of 1.60 for a home win, suggesting a 62.5 percent probability.
Galatasaray – Statistics & current form
Galatasaray Istanbul remains the team to beat in the Süperlig, but before the international break, they went two games in a row without scoring or winning (one draw, one loss). This made Saturday’s hard-fought 3-2 home win over Genclerbirligi all the more important. They did manage to maintain their lead in the table. At the same time, however, the Lions’ injury worries have increased, with Victor Osimhen among those unavailable for this Champions League game, which is a huge blow given the Nigerian’s impressive goal-scoring record.
Nevertheless, if Galatasaray beat Union St. Gilloise at home, as predicted, Okan Buruk’s team would set a new milestone. For the first time in history, Cimbom would then have won four international competitive games in a row. At the same time, it would also end a dry spell. Gala has never won against Belgian opponents in eight attempts so far (four draws, four defeats).
Can Gala compensate for the loss of Osimhen?
Also noteworthy is the Yellow-Reds’ good form at home, having won both of their Champions League group stage home games. For the first time since the 2000/01 season, when they ultimately reached the quarterfinals, they could now achieve three consecutive home wins in the premier class.
Despite the absence of Osimhen, who scored an incredible twelve goals in his last eight European Cup games for Gala, there is still plenty of quality in the team that could be enough for another home win. One example is Lucas Torreira, who plays his long balls with surgical precision. 78 percent of all long passes by the 29-year-old have found their target in the Champions League group stage so far. Of all players who have attempted at least 20 long passes this season, only Leverkusen’s Aleix Garcia has a better rate (86 percent).

Union St. Gilloise – Statistics & current form
Union St. Gilloise are once again top of the table in Belgium and recorded a 2-0 home win over Cercle Brugge in Saturday’s dress rehearsal, but the Blue and Yellows have already suffered three defeats in their first four matchdays of the UEFA Champions League group stage. Overall, the Unionistes have lost five of their last seven competitive games in the main rounds of UEFA competitions (two wins).
However, both exceptions were away games (2-1 at Ajax in February 2025 and 3-1 at PSV in September 2025). Against this backdrop, David Hubert’s team has high hopes at Rams Park, even though the betting odds clearly favor Galatasaray over Union St. Gilloise.
Union St. Gilloise with a dangerous defense
Two aspects concerning the defense of the kickers from the Brussels-Capital Region are particularly interesting. On the one hand, the defense conceded at least three goals per game (eleven in total) in each of their last three Champions League defeats. On the other hand, hardly any other club has such dangerous defenders. Half of all Royale Union’s Champions League goals in 2025/26 were scored by defenders. Most recently, Kevin Mac Allister and Ross Sykes each scored from set pieces.
Set pieces could therefore be the key to success on the Bosporus, although the first priority must be to improve the defensive compactness. Even in the 3-1 away win at PSV Eindhoven, the Unionistes did not keep a clean sheet.

Galatasaray – Union St. Gilloise Head-to-head record
Head to head: 0 – 0 – 0
There has never been an international competitive match between the two teams before. Consequently, there is no head-to-head data available that could influence our prediction for Galatasaray vs. Union St. Gilloise in any way.
Galatasaray – Union St. Gilloise Tip
Basically, we don’t want to contradict the AI prediction, which expects a historic home win for the Turks, especially since the visitors from Belgium don’t exactly have the best European record to bring to the Bosphorus. However, Gala has a very full infirmary and now also has to do without Victor Osimhen, who has scored in all of his last eight competitive games in UEFA main rounds for Galatasaray and was a kind of life insurance for the Lions. In short: In our opinion, it is not completely out of the question that the Unionistes will win a point, especially since Cimbom has not managed a single victory against a Belgian club in eight attempts (four draws, four defeats).
We are therefore avoiding the three-way system as a precaution. Since, for many reasons, a high-scoring match is to be expected at Rams Park, betting on over 2.5 goals is a good alternative.
