Will VfB bring a little excitement back to the Bundesliga?
With an eight-point lead over the second-placed team, FC Bayern currently tops the Bundesliga table. The battle for the championship is definitely not as exciting as it could be. Never before has a team had such a big lead at this early stage of the season. What’s more, Munich has always won the championship when it has been at least eight points ahead during the course of a season.
On Saturday afternoon, it will be up to VfB Stuttgart to ensure that the pursuers can possibly close the gap on the star ensemble from Säbener Straße. However, for a bet on the Swabians to come true in the southern summit between VfB Stuttgart and Bayern, they will need a very good performance and the necessary bit of luck.
The omens ahead of the match between the current cup winners and the reigning champions seem relatively clear. In sixth place in the table, the team led by Sebastian Hoeneß, nephew of the great FCB patriarch Uli, is of course the clear underdog going into the match. The visitors from Munich have won 19 of their 21 competitive games this season, with their only defeat coming at Arsenal, the Premier League leaders.
Nevertheless, caution is advised when looking at the VfB Stuttgart vs. Bayern prediction in favor of the record champions, as the Swabians have won all five of their Bundesliga home games this season. In addition, Deniz Undav and Co. expended less energy during their cup match in Bochum (2-0) during the week – especially due to the sending-off against VfL in the first half – than FCB, who only narrowly prevailed at Union Berlin (3-2) to secure their ticket to the quarterfinals.
The odds for a home win for VfB Stuttgart against Bayern are currently at 6.00 at the top. However, if Harry Kane and Co. once again prove their dominance at the national level, the maximum odds offered are just 1.50.
VfB Stuttgart vs. Bayern Prediction AI
The xG value of 2.37 in favor of FCB is also the highest in the league. Meanwhile, the expected goal value for Stuttgart only just exceeds the 1.00 mark (1.07). In its VfB Stuttgart vs. Bayern AI prediction, the AI therefore sees value in the possibility that a maximum of one of the two teams will score on Saturday afternoon.
VfB Stuttgart – Statistics & current form
Basically, VfB Stuttgart can be absolutely satisfied with the season so far. As mentioned, they secured their place in the quarterfinals of the DFB Cup on Wednesday, their chances of finishing in the top 8 of the Europa League are still intact, and they are also keeping pace with the Champions League places in the Bundesliga.
Nevertheless, Hoeneß’s team has lost some momentum recently. After five Bundesliga wins in a row, they have only managed to pick up four points from a possible twelve in their last four games in the German top flight (1-1-2). The low point so far was last weekend’s 2-1 defeat at Hamburger SV, which was particularly bitter given that they had a man advantage and missed a free kick.
Will Deniz Undav continue his impressive run?
The reigning cup winners will be all the happier that they have another home game coming up this weekend in the 13th matchday of the Bundesliga. VfB have been flawless there so far. Five games, five wins and 9-3 goals make the kickers with the chest ring one of the best home teams in the top flight.
Nevertheless, it should give pause for thought that keeper Alexander Nübel has conceded at least two goals in each of the last four league games. At the same time, the offense led by the in-form Deniz Undav is always capable of scoring goals itself. In November alone, the German national striker was directly involved in nine VfB goals. He also scored in the cup on Wednesday.
These statistics suggest attractive VfB Stuttgart vs. Bayern odds. For example, on an Undav goal (3.15 @Interwetten) or generally on over goals! Nine of twelve VfB games ended with over 2.5 goals.

Bayern – Statistics & current form
With 34 points after twelve matchdays, FC Bayern is having the best Bundesliga season in history. They have eleven wins and one draw. No team has scored more goals (44) or conceded fewer goals (nine) than the league leaders from Bavaria. Nevertheless, coach Vincent Kompany’s team has been a little careless at times recently.
Bayern’s dominance has crumbled slightly recently
This refers primarily to early deficits and a relatively high number of goals conceded. In four of the last five competitive games, Manuel Neuer had to fish the ball out of the net twice or more. In four of the five games, Munich also conceded the first goal. With the exception of the 3-1 defeat at Arsenal FC and the 2-2 draw in the Bundesliga at Union Berlin, however, these deficits were always corrected – in most cases quite quickly.
A glance at the statistics also reveals that in 75 percent of all Bayern games in the current Bundesliga season, over 1.5 goals in the first half would have been successful. No wonder, as Kane and Co. scored 22 goals before the break – by far the highest number! Given the abundance of (early) goals conceded and the high-performance offense, it makes sense to bet on at least two goals before the break in this weekend’s match between VfB Stuttgart and Bayern.

VfB Stuttgart – Bayern Head-to-head comparison / H2H record
This is the third time the clubs have faced each other this calendar year. In February, FC Bayern won 3-1 at VfB Stuttgart in the Bundesliga. In the Super Cup final before the season, which also took place at the MHPArena, Munich won 2-1. FCB has won 15 of its last 16 away games in Stuttgart across all competitions.
In Bundesliga history, no club has celebrated more victories against another club than FC Bayern against Stuttgart. Also exciting: at least three goals have been scored between these teams 14 times in a row (!). This further supports my VfB Stuttgart vs. Bayern prediction of an offensive spectacle.
VfB Stuttgart – Bayern Tip
FC Bayern faces a difficult away game on Saturday at VfB Stuttgart. The Swabians have won all five of their Bundesliga home games so far and, in Deniz Undav, have a striker in very good form who is definitely a potential goalscorer against the FCB defense, which has looked somewhat unstable recently. In four of their last five competitive games, Munich have conceded at least two goals. Nevertheless, the record champions have also scored at least two goals in 20 Bundesliga games in a row. The over 2.5 has also come in in all twelve Bundesliga games for Kompany’s team this season.
If the odds for a match combo of X2 & Over 2.5 are too low, you can place a bet on at least two goals in the first 45 minutes. The league leaders have scored 22 times before the break, but have recently found themselves trailing 0-1 on several occasions. Nothing stands in the way of a spectacular first half. I am therefore pushing for a bet on over 1.5 (1st half) at 1.86 between VfB Stuttgart and Bayern. My stake is six units.
