Will the Jags clinch the division?
The 2025/26 NFL season is truly crazy. The team that led the table after eight games with an almost unassailable 7-1 record is now fighting for its last chance, while the team that was stuck in no man’s land with a 4-4 record at the time could win the division in our Colts vs. Jaguars tip.
The Colts are the ones in free fall, having lost five games in a row, and not just because their quarterback Daniel Jones is out. Their defense has also completely lost its rhythm in recent weeks. The Jags already scored 36 points against them in the first leg three weeks ago.
Jacksonville, on the other hand, is carried by Trevor Lawrence, who is finally playing to his full potential, and by playmakers such as Travis Etienne (offense) and Josh Hines-Allen (defense), who are also playing at an extremely high level.
So, for Colts vs. Jaguars, our prediction is another win for the Jaguars, who cannot be stopped by this Colts defense with their variable offensive play. A game beyond the 50-point total mark would not surprise us here either.
Kick-off for this AFC South matchup is on Sunday at 7:00 p.m. in Indianapolis. This game from the penultimate NFL matchday 17 will also be broadcast live as a single game on the DAZN streaming service.
Indianapolis Colts – Jacksonville Jaguars Head-to-head comparison / H2H recor
Six wins in a row meet five losses in a row. It’s currently an uneven matchup, even if Philip Rivers is trying to save what can no longer be saved. Incidentally, it was in the first matchup of the season three weeks ago that Daniel Jones tore his Achilles tendon.
That matchup went clearly to Jacksonville, 36-19, who have also won four of the last five matchups. The Jags also have a defense that is 31.6 yards per game better. A difference that, after the injury to Colts cornerback Sauce Gardner, tips the scales even more clearly in Jacksonville’s favor.
All in all, there is little to be said in favor of Indianapolis, which makes the odds on Indianapolis much more playable for Colts vs. Jaguars. Here, tips can still be played well with a handicap of up to -6.5. Over points are also likely to be a good alternative option in this matchup between good offenses and the weak Colts defense.
Indianapolis Colts – Jacksonville Jaguars Tip
With 87.3 rushing yards allowed per game, Jacksonville has the best rushing defense in the NFL. That’s unfortunate for Indy, whose game is largely dependent on Jonathan Taylor’s running game. They will now have to put the game in the hands of Philip Rivers, which carries many risks.
After all, the Jags defense has already intercepted 19 passes – the second-best record in the league.
Therefore, for Colts vs. Jaguars, the betting odds on the Colts -6.5 are our clear recommendation. We don’t expect Rivers and Co. to make it a close game here, nor do we expect them to hold Jacksonville to under 30 points.
As a player bet, we are also going with a Jags player and recommend betting on a touchdown by Parker Washington. He has caught three of his four touchdowns on the road and against AFC rivals, and has also scored two punt return touchdowns, which further increases the likelihood of a TD.
