Will Eintracht’s downward spiral continue into the next round?
Eintracht Frankfurt definitely had a different plan for this Champions League season than just playing for the infamous “golden pineapple” on the last matchday. After a meager four points from their first seven games in the league phase, the Hessians no longer have a chance of reaching the playoffs.
Nevertheless, the final match against Tottenham Hotspur Football Club is anything but unimportant for SGE. After all, the Eagles are looking to finally put an end to their slump and secure their first win in 2026. However, if the assessments of the best betting providers are to be believed, an away win is considered the more realistic outcome between Frankfurt and Tottenham.
And that’s despite the fact that the Londoners are not exactly setting the world alight at the moment either. Quite the contrary, in fact, because after a disappointing 2-2 draw at Burnley at the weekend, Spurs fans even called for coach Thomas Frank to be sacked. The Dane, who arrived from Brentford in the summer, is probably only still in office because of the team’s good league form in the UEFA Champions League so far. Ahead of the final matchday, the Lilywhites still have their fate in their own hands when it comes to qualifying directly for the round of 16. For that to happen, the English team needs to win the match between Frankfurt and Tottenham.
Frankfurt vs. Tottenham AI prediction
Despite the fact that artificial intelligence sees the visitors from the English capital ahead with xG values of 1.28 to 1.79, the value is curiously to be found in the Frankfurt vs. Tottenham AI prediction for a home win. The reason for this is the calculated probability of victory for Eintracht of 27.3%, which corresponds to fair odds of 3.66. However, Interwetten is offering maximum odds of 4.20 on an SGE win, so according to the AI, it is more valuable to place a bet on the Bundesliga club.
Frankfurt – Statistics & current form
Eintracht Frankfurt threw away their chance to force a real final on Wednesday evening in the Champions League last week. Despite taking a 2-1 lead in Baku, the Hessians lost 3-2 to Qarabag and are now certain to be eliminated before the final matchday. The home game against Tottenham Hotspur FC is now only of statistical significance for SGE in the Champions League. Nevertheless, three points could still have a positive effect on the rest of the season.
Who will score for Frankfurt?
The only problem is that the Eagles currently offer little reason to believe that they will come away with three points on Wednesday. In particular, their disastrous defensive performances are hardly compensated for by their own offense, especially with Burkardt, Eboutalib, and Kalimuendo, all three nominal strikers, out of action. Burkardt and Ebnoutalib are injured; Kalimuendo is not eligible to play in the European Cup.
This puts even more responsibility on youngster Can Uzun, who has already scored twice since the winter break and also provided an assist in the 1-3 defeat to Hoffenheim at the weekend.
Alternatively, it has been a good idea in recent weeks to bet on over goals in Eintracht games. In all five competitive games in the 2026 calendar year, over 2.5 would have paid off. No wonder, as Kaua Santos has always had to pick the ball out of his net exactly three times. However, the Eagles, for whom Dennis Schmitt will probably be sitting on the bench as interim coach for the last time this week, have always scored at least one goal of their own, and four times even two or more. All of this suggests that the fans at Deutsche Bank Park will once again be treated to a spectacle in what is likely to be their last Champions League match for the time being.

Tottenham – Statistics & current form
On the island, the question is no longer whether Thomas Frank will be dismissed, but when the Danish coach will be relieved of his duties by the Spurs management.
At the moment, there are many indications that even the generally very positive results in the UEFA Champions League will not be enough to save the head coach.
As a reminder, Ange Postecoglou had to vacate his post last season despite winning the Europa League title because Tottenham fell far short of their own expectations in the Premier League. Currently, the Lily Whites are only 14th in the league. They have not won a single game at the national level since the end of December. Among other things, they suffered defeats in the FA Cup at home against Aston Villa and in the Premier League at home against West Ham United and in Bournemouth.
Will the Spurs defy their tense personnel situation?
However, the Spurs are showing a different side in the Champions League. Fifth place with 14 points puts them in a perfect position ahead of the final showdown. If the Londoners win between Frankfurt and Tottenham, they will save themselves two tedious playoff matches and advance directly to the round of 16. In the best-case scenario, the Premier League club could even finish in the top four, which would mean that they would be able to play the second leg of each of the upcoming rounds in front of their home crowd.
However, the English side continues to struggle with major personnel problems. Around a dozen players are currently unavailable. The team is virtually picking itself and will be similar to the starting eleven from last week, when Borussia Dortmund were defeated 2-0 at home.
However, Tottenham are still waiting for their first away win. They have picked up two points from three Champions League away games, with the remaining twelve points all coming at home. All seven goals conceded have also come in away games, which supports my recommendation to disregard the odds on the 1X2 market ahead of the Frankfurt vs. Tottenham match.

Frankfurt – Tottenham Head-to-head record
There have already been six meetings between Frankfurt and Tottenham. The Spurs have only lost once. THFC has recently remained unbeaten against Eintracht four times in a row. The last direct duels took place less than a year ago.
In the Europa League quarterfinals in April 2025, the Hessians first fought their way to a 1-1 draw in London, but then surprisingly lost the return leg 0-1 in front of their home crowd. I expect a little more spectacle on Wednesday evening, even though only one of the two teams still has something to play for.
Frankfurt – Tottenham Tip
Eintracht Frankfurt dropped nine points this Champions League season after taking the lead. If they had kept just three or four of those points, Wednesday evening would have been a real showdown. However, because SGE only managed to secure a total of four points, their international adventure in 25/26 will definitely come to an end with their home game against Tottenham. The situation is different for the visitors from London, who are safely through to the playoffs but, currently in fifth place, are aiming to finish in the top eight to qualify directly for the round of 16.
The odds look good on paper, as Frankfurt have conceded three goals in each of their five games in 2026, are also struggling with personnel problems in attack, and may not be 100% motivated (subconsciously).
Since there is a certain residual risk and I believe the odds for an away win are still too low, I ultimately decide to go with the Frankfurt vs. Tottenham tip for over 2.5 goals.
