Is Semenyo the new Haaland?
The normally well-oiled goal machine from Manchester is stuttering: Two goalless draws, just two goals against bottom-of-the-table Wolverhampton, and no more than four goals in total represent the Cityzens’ meager haul from their last five games! Read our Tottenham vs. Manchester City tip to find out how likely it is that Guardiola’s team will continue their uncharacteristic goal drought!
One reason why City’s attack is not working is Erling Haaland’s scoring drought. The Norwegian has scored in only one of his last six competitive games. At least winter signing Antoine Semenyo can be exempted from the criticism of Manchester’s attack.
The striker came from league rivals Bournemouth and immediately settled into life in the “Rainy City.” He has scored in three of his four games for City! Semenyo has also scored five goals in his last eight PL games across all competitions – more than any other player in that period.
He also scored a late winner for Bournemouth against Spurs in January this year. Only Eric Cantona in the 1992/93 season with Leeds and Manchester United and Benito Carbone in the 1999/00 season with Sheffield Wednesday and Aston Villa have scored for two teams against Spurs in a single PL season. Given his current form, we believe it is worth betting on Semenyo to score again in the match between Tottenham and Manchester City.
At the same time, however, the odds on a maximum of two goals by the visitors are attractive due to the collective form of City’s attack described above. In addition, the odds on an away win could be worthwhile in the clash between Tottenham and Manchester City.
Although City are in a form that could be improved, the Londoners are very weak at home: only Wolverhampton, bottom of the table, score fewer points in front of their own fans, and with three winless home games in a row, there is no sign of improvement.
Tottenham – Manchester City Head-to-head record / H2H balance
Tottenham pulled off a surprise 2-0 away win in the Premier League in their last meeting with Manchester in August last year. On the other hand, the Londoners have often been successful against City recently: three of the last four league and EFL Cup matches against Manchester ended in victory for the Lilywhites (3-0-1)!
Furthermore, Tottenham have won both Premier League games against Manchester City nine times this season – more than against any other opponent. Only Chelsea (10) have achieved the seasonal double against the Citizens more often.

Tottenham – Manchester City Tip
Not only is City currently off form, but the home side is even worse. The capital club has been waiting for its next three points for five games (0-3-2). Due to this dry spell, Spurs has now slipped to 14th place in the table.
The upswing hoped for before the season due to the change of coach has so far failed to materialize for the 17th-placed team from last season. Instead, after 35 competitive games in this role, the Danish coach has only a slightly positive record (13-10-12).
The home side’s poor season is primarily due to their shaky home performances. While they are fourth in the away table, just ahead of their upcoming opponents with a game in hand, they are second from bottom in the Premier League home table!
The visitors are not particularly convincing at the moment, but at least they have a strong striker in Antonie Semenyo. Since his move from Bournemouth, where he has also been efficient this season with ten goals in 20 league games, the Ghanaian has scored in three of four competitive games for City.
He will also be well rested, as Semenyo was not eligible to play in Wednesday’s Champions League match against Galatasaray. In light of this, the odds on the 26-year-old scoring the next goal in the match between Tottenham and Manchester City are worth considering.
