Will Draisaitl shoot the DEB team to victory?

The DEB team is kicking off the Olympic ice hockey tournament, and our Germany vs. Denmark tip predicts a must-win game for Harold Kreis’s men right from the start. In Group C, Latvia and the USA, two higher-ranked and better-rated teams, await them.

However, the Germans should not underestimate Denmark, as they have often had problems with the Scandinavians in the past. The last two matches ended in draws, with Germany ultimately losing both on penalty shots.

This year, however, the Germans have Leon Draisaitl, one of the NHL’s top scorers, on the ice, as well as Tim Stützle and Moritz Seider, two other absolute top stars from North America. The Danes lack this star power, even though they also have six NHL players in their ranks.

Nevertheless, our prediction for Germany vs. Denmark is an opening victory for the DEB team, although it could be another close game. In the end, however, Draisaitl and Stützle should make the difference with their scoring points.

In addition to tips on the German team, under bets are a good option at the start of the tournament, as with all games. Since many teams are made up of players from numerous different leagues and countries, there is still a lack of coordination at the moment.

Germany – Denmark Head-to-head comparison / H2H statistics

The DEB team faces a difficult but achievable task at the start. Difficult, if we look at the last few matches, of which Germany won 3 out of 5 – but the last two encounters went to the Danes.

Both at the Deutschland Cup and at the last World Championships, the Danes defeated the German team in penalty shootouts, although Germany was the better team for long stretches in both games. That, and the NHL stars, should give Team Germany hope that this time will be different.

Germany – Denmark Tip

The triumph in Sochi in 2018 was followed by disappointment in 2022 with the team missing out on the quarterfinals. According to the law of averages, success should now follow again – which is not unrealistic with stars like Leon Draisaitl. At least the quarterfinals should be a must, which of course requires a victory against Denmark.

Germany has won three of its last four preparatory games, while the Danes have lost three of four. Therefore, our clear recommendation for Germany vs. Denmark is to bet on Germany.

Surprisingly, however, the odds on Leon Draisaitl scoring are higher, currently standing at up to 2.30. The German has already scored 29 goals in the NHL this season and should be one of the candidates to score again on Thursday.
