Will Mainz remain unbeaten at home under Urs Fischer?

Mainz singing and laughing? At least according to our Mainz vs. VfB Stuttgart tip, there could well be cause for celebration for the 05ers’ fans this coming Saturday. After the Rheinhessen’s upswing under new coach Urs Fischer, we believe the home team can pick up points against a VfB side that has not been convincing away from home recently.

Last weekend, Mainz’s upcoming opponent once again demonstrated its impressive home strength with a victory against the Wolves. Away from home, however, the Brustringträger have recently failed to show their potential on the pitch, slipping up against the two bottom teams, St. Pauli and Heidenheim. Although Sebastian Hoeneß’s team, which has often seemed overplayed recently, did not have a game to play during the week this time, we are therefore not entirely convinced by a Mainz vs. VfB Stuttgart prediction of an away win.

Wherever the Swabians have played this season, goals have usually not been far away. Sebastian Hoeneß’s offensive style of play, combined with Stuttgart’s potential up front, almost inevitably leads to goals. But it also often leads to conceding goals, especially away from home.

Mainz vs. VfB Stuttgart prediction AI

Just like us, the Mainz vs. VfB Stuttgart AI prediction predicts a high-scoring encounter. While the hosts have an xG value of 1.36, the AI tends to believe that the visitors from Swabia will score two goals (xG value 1.81).

On the three-way market, the Mainz vs. VfB Stuttgart AI prediction also suggests value in betting on an away win. While according to the AI, the odds for a guest win should be around 2.03, Merkur Bets is currently offering us 2.18 for this.

Mainz – Statistics & current form

Urs Fischer took over an unsettled Mainz team at the bottom of the table. In his very first game on the bench, he led the then bottom-of-the-table team to a sensational point at Munich’s Allianz Arena. The upswing and positive development of his team since then are unmistakable.

Will Mainz also score against Stuttgart?

Precise as a Swiss watch and well organized, the new Mainz team functions under the tactical and disciplinary fanatic Urs Fischer. The team of the former Union Berlin coach now has 23 points. This means that the “carnival club” is no longer in the direct relegation zone, but the 05ers cannot afford to sit back and relax as they are only one point ahead of the relegation spot.

Among other things, Urs Fischer’s team has already won points against the top teams Leipzig and Leverkusen in recent weeks.

The point gained at Bayer 04 last week was even achieved without the top scorer of recent weeks, Nadiem Amiri. But even important absences such as that of the German international can be compensated for by the Mainz team at the moment.

The reason for this is that the collective under Urs Fischer works well. Good spacing and tactical discipline will once again be required against the Swabians’ strong attacking line this Saturday. If the 05ers can do this again, VfB will also have a tough time against the Rheinhessen, and a Mainz vs. VfB Stuttgart tip of at least one point for the hosts could well come true.

VfB Stuttgart – Statistics & current form

The last two away games in the Bundesliga have not been particularly satisfactory for Champions League contenders Stuttgart. Against the two bottom teams, St. Pauli and Heidenheim, the Swabians only managed to secure a meager point. Mainz now awaits them in what will be a difficult task in their next Bundesliga away game.

Third win against Mainz this season?

Above all, the Brustringträger defense needs to be better against the Rheinhessen than it has been in recent away games in order to score points on the road again. Five goals conceded against St. Pauli and Heidenheim, two teams that are anything but strong offensively, were simply not worthy of a top team.

At least there have already been two wins against the upcoming opponent this season in the league and cup. Will victory number three follow this season on Saturday? Based on the recent impressions of both teams, we cannot recommend a Mainz vs. VfB Stuttgart prediction of an away win for a betting bonus.

Against a resurgent Mainz side, we think it’s not unlikely that the Red and Whites will drop points again. We also expect a high-scoring game at Mainz’s MEWA Arena. The five-time German champions almost always have something to offer offensively, but they have been less than solid at the back in their recent Bundesliga away games.

Mainz – VfB Stuttgart Head-to-head record

The two teams have faced each other 40 times in total. VfB has won around half of those matches, with 18 victories. Mainz has celebrated 13 victories, and there have been nine draws in this pairing. The Swabians have also won both encounters this season in the Bundesliga and DFB Cup.

Mainz – VfB Stuttgart Tip

As was the case recently against St. Pauli and Heidenheim, Stuttgart will once again face a fierce and bitter opponent on Saturday who has nothing to lose in the relegation battle. It’s no secret that Sebastian Hoeneß’s team doesn’t particularly like playing against such opponents. It’s no coincidence that they have only managed to secure a meager one point from their two away games against the two aforementioned opponents.

The 05ers are likely to counter the superior play of VfB with tough tackling and fighting spirit. These are virtues embodied above all by defender Dominik Kohr, who has earned the nickname “Hard-Kohr” for good reason and almost always plays on the edge of what is allowed. He and his defensive colleagues will play a crucial role in this match.

If they manage to neutralize Stuttgart’s strong offense, we believe the hosts will score in our Mainz vs. VfB Stuttgart prediction. It’s no coincidence that Mainz 05 is still undefeated at home under Urs Fischer. In fact, the Swiss coach has only suffered two defeats since taking office in December.

However, we do not believe that one of the best offenses in the German top flight can be shut out for 90 minutes. It is not without reason that every VfB away game has ended with more than two goals scored. This is a tip that we are also targeting again this coming Saturday.

Conversely, the over 2.5 goals mark has only been broken in three of Mainz’s twelve home games so far. However, as we believe that the Rheinhessen will also score at least one goal in the upcoming match, we are betting on both teams to score in this game, as well as on the home team to get something out of the game.
