Will the Neroverdi continue their run in the Eternal City?
Not many experts would have predicted that newly promoted Sassuolo Calcio, under promotion coach and former Germany nemesis Fabio Grosso, would have nothing to do with relegation and, after 27 matchdays, would even be four points ahead of Lazio Rome in ninth place in the table.
Not only does this snapshot show the strong form of the Emiliani, who have won five of their last six league games (one defeat), but it also underlines what a disappointing season the Aquile (English: the Eagles) are having under Maurizio Sarri. If Lazio Rome’s prediction of a home win for the Biancocelesti against Sassuolo does not come true, the capital city team could even drop to twelfth place in the table.
The Laziali, who reached the semifinals of the Coppa Italia, still have a small lifeline. On Wednesday evening, however, the Aquile could not manage more than a 2-2 draw in the first leg against Atalanta Bergamo. The starting position for the second leg in Lombardy is therefore not disastrous, but it is certainly not rosy either. At least after three consecutive competitive games without scoring, the Biancocelesti, who are otherwise so passive and defensive under Sarri, have scored twice again. However, Monday evening’s game against Sassuolo could be another tough affair, which is why we favor a tip of under 2.5 goals.
In our opinion, the Emiliani have a very good chance of winning a point in the Eternal City. Although none of the last five matches between the two clubs have seen more than two goals, which is why our main tip is already well placed, there have not even been more than three goals in any of their last eleven encounters.
Lazio Rome – Sassuolo Head-to-head record
Head to head: 13 – 4 – 6
Only 23 competitive matches have been played between the two teams so far, and Lazio Rome leads the head-to-head record against Sassuolo Calcio very clearly with 13 wins. Not only did the Biancocelesti lose 1–0 to the Emiliani in the first leg, but in their last home game against the Neroverdi, the capital city team could not manage more than a 1–1 draw.

Lazio Rome – Sassuolo Tip
The Aquile have won only two of their last 14 competitive games (eight draws, four defeats), which is primarily due to their overly defensive style of play repeatedly coming at the expense of their offensive power.
Sarri’s style of football has not worked very often either, as the Biancocelesti have conceded two goals in five of their last seven competitive games. Against this backdrop, our prediction for Lazio Rome vs. Sassuolo leans toward the in-form Emiliani, who have won five of their last six Serie A games (one defeat) and have recently overtaken the capital club in the table.
Although the odds for tip 2 are very tempting, the Aquile have ultimately saved themselves too often with a draw. Against this backdrop, we find slightly more value in betting on a maximum of two goals being scored at the Stadio Olimpico than in the three-way system, which also carries a significantly higher risk.
For under 2.5 goals, Betano is offering odds of 1.67 for Lazio Rome against Sassuolo, which we are betting on with six out of ten units.
