Will the Hessians stay on track for Europe?

While Cologne currently sits safely in mid-table, 11 points behind third place and 16 points ahead of the first relegation spot, allowing them to start planning for another year in the Bundesliga early on, Eintracht Frankfurt’s women’s team is hoping to compete internationally again in the 2026/27 season. With a four-point lead over Hoffenheim, third place also seems secure. However, if the Hessians’ away win doesn’t materialize in the match between Cologne and Frankfurt Women, things could get tight again.

One problem is certainly that the SGE women’s team dropped points in the first leg against the Effzeh women and could not manage more than a 1-1 draw at home in Frankfurt. Prior to that, the Frankfurt women were not only unbeaten in twelve consecutive Bundesliga matches against the Cologne women but also recorded twelve consecutive wins. However, it’s now a logical prediction that Coach Niko Arnautis’s squad can avenge that dropped point in Cologne and secure an away win.

It could very well be a high-scoring affair at the Franz-Kremer-Stadion. After all, with 52 goals in 21 league matches, SGE boasts one of the most dangerous attacking lines in the Women’s Bundesliga. That said, we believe the Cologne side—who have won only one of their last six league matches (one draw, four losses) but still managed to score in four of those six games—will at least score a home goal. After all, with 36 goals conceded, the Hessians’ defense has also been remarkably vulnerable.

Cologne – Frankfurt Women Head-to-Head Record

Head to Head: 3 – 5 – 32

Forty competitive matches have taken place between the two clubs so far, and with 32 wins, Eintracht Frankfurt’s women’s team leads the head-to-head record by a wide margin. The Hessians are currently unbeaten in their last 13 meetings with Cologne (twelve wins, one draw), but could not manage more than a 1-1 draw in the first leg on November 5, 2025, in front of their home crowd. However, their last away game in Cologne resulted in a 4-0 victory.

Cologne – Frankfurt Women Prediction

Not least because of the very lopsided head-to-head record, our prediction for Cologne vs. Frankfurt Women clearly favors an away win for the Hessians, who are also heading into this league match in much better form.
For the Effzeh women, there isn’t much at stake anymore, while the Eintracht players have to defend third place. While the Cologne women have managed just four out of a possible 18 points from their last six league games, the Hessians have earned 15 points—more than three times as many.

Admittedly, the Eintracht women have faced setbacks with their cup exit (0-1 against Wolfsburg) and Wednesday night’s 0-3 home loss to BK Häcken in the Women’s Europa Cup. However, Coach Niko Arnautis’s squad will certainly be all the more focused in the Bundesliga now, which is why we see the greatest value in betting on an away win for the Hessians.
