Can Juve secure the must-win victory?

As is well known, Easter Monday is a big match day in Italy. A total of four matches are on the schedule to wrap up Matchday 31 in Serie A. While the top-of-the-table clash between Napoli and AC Milan may overshadow the other matches, the Old Lady from Turin, for example, also has an important home fixture ahead of her. If the bookmakers’ odds are to be believed, everything points to a win for the hosts ahead of the Juventus vs. Genoa match.

Coach Luciano Spalletti’s team currently sits in fifth place in Italy’s top flight. They trail fourth-place Como by three points, a position that would secure the final Champions League spot as things stand. Since the Bianconeri’s goal must naturally be to compete among the elite in the Champions League next season as well, they must ensure they win these so-called must-win home games. The home game against 13th-place Genoa—who, with a six-point cushion over the relegation zone, still need to keep the pressure on themselves—is one such must-win game!

Basically, the Black and Whites have the numbers on their side. They’ve lost just one home league game this season (8-6-1). The mere 13 goals conceded in front of their own fans also represent a top-tier figure in the league. Aside from that, the Juventus vs. Genoa prediction is positively influenced by the fact that the visitors from Liguria have recently struggled on the road. After six winless games, they were at least able to celebrate a 2-0 victory at Hellas Verona before the international break.

However, it’s also clear that coach Daniele De Rossi’s team often struggles to make an impact in opposing stadiums. In three of their last five away matches in Serie A, Genoa failed to score a single goal. Facing one of the best home defenses on the road, I believe a similar fate looms.

Juventus – Genoa Head-to-Head Record

Alternatively, the betting odds for a scoreless first half in the Juventus vs. Genoa match offer value. In three of the past four head-to-head matches, only one goal was scored in total. The Red-Blues have failed to score against the Old Lady four times in a row. Genoa last managed to bring the favorites to their knees in 2022. Their last away win at Juve, however, dates back over 40 years. The first leg ended with a narrow 1-0 away win for the Black and Whites. I could well imagine a similar result on Monday.

Juventus – Genoa Prediction

In the battle for Champions League spots, Juventus faces Genoa at home on Monday. The favorites are clearly Spalletti’s side, who have lost just one home game all season but have also drawn six times. Among other results, they managed only a 1-1 draw at home against Sassuolo before the international break.

Compared to Genoa, however, Sassuolo poses a significantly greater threat on the road. Genoa has failed to score in three of their last five Serie A away matches and has yet to win a single away game against the Turin-based club this millennium.

Consequently, all of my tips point in a similar direction. If you’re willing to take a bit of a risk, you can bet on a scoreless first half. Alternatively, it’s conceivable that Genoa will once again fail to score in Turin. However, my top pick is my low-risk Juventus vs. Genoa bet on 1X & Under 3.5, which I believe represents a good compromise.
