Will the Red Devils stay on course for the Champions League?

On Saturday evening, the English top flight will witness a rare occurrence. For only the sixth time in the 2025/26 season, after 319 matches played, two teams will face off that are both coached by English managers. However, both Liam Rosenior and Michael Carrick currently have worry lines on their foreheads.

While the Red Devils have managed just four points out of a possible twelve in their last four matches following a strong run, the Blues have lost three Premier League games in a row without scoring a single goal. The initial trend, therefore, points to a bet on the visitors in the Chelsea vs. Manchester United match.

Although the Red Devils clearly have the upper hand in head-to-head matchups, they have won only one of their last twelve Premier League away games at Stamford Bridge (five draws, six losses), which is why the three-way system seems a bit too risky to us. Overall, Manchester United sits only seventh in the away table and has performed significantly better at home. Given the Londoners’ recent goal drought, however, we shouldn’t expect an overly high-scoring match. The best value, therefore, comes from betting on under 3.5 goals on the Thames.

The Blues’ recent slump in form illustrates this very clearly. Since early March, no other club in Europe’s top five leagues has lost more competitive matches than the Blues (six out of nine), who have slipped to sixth place in the Premier League following four losses in their last five matches. They are already four points behind fifth place. So if CFC wants to reach the Champions League, they need a turnaround soon—which we don’t see happening, especially given the long injury list.

Instead, we expect the Red Devils to play very compactly at Stamford Bridge, which could make it a tough affair, especially in the first half. The bet on under 1.5 goals in the first half is very interesting, with odds of 1.65 available in the Betano app for Chelsea vs. Manchester United.

Chelsea – Manchester United Head-to-Head Record

Head-to-Head: 57 – 57 – 84

A total of 198 matches have already taken place between the two teams, and with 84 wins, Manchester United leads the head-to-head record overall. The Red Devils also won the first leg at Old Trafford 2-1 against the Blues.

However, the record champions haven’t had much success away at Stamford Bridge recently. In the Premier League, Chelsea FC has lost only one of its last twelve home games against Manchester United (six wins, five draws).

Chelsea – Manchester United Prediction

Given the Blues’ slump, our prediction for Chelsea vs. Manchester United generally favors the visitors, but the Red Devils’ run under Michael Carrick also seems to be losing steam. The Red Devils have lost two of their last four Premier League games (one win, one draw)—as many losses as in their previous 22 PL games combined (twelve wins, eight draws).

Although match combos that include the Double Chance X2 are certainly promising, we would therefore steer clear of the three-way system, at least.

It is also striking, however, that the Londoners have lost their last three Premier League games without scoring. A goal-fest is therefore unlikely, especially since a draw would be worth its weight in gold for the Red Devils in the battle for Champions League spots. We therefore recommend betting that there will be a maximum of three goals at Stamford Bridge, which would have held true in ten of the last twelve Premier League matches between the two clubs.
