Will Nottingham secure their Premier League status?

After being eliminated in the Europa League semifinals with a 0-4 loss in the second leg against Aston Villa (1-0 in the first leg), Nottingham Forest must now take the final step toward avoiding relegation in the league. The hosts are currently in 16th place with 42 points—putting them six points clear of the direct relegation spots. The visitors from Newcastle, on the other hand, sit in 13th place with 45 points.

Forest has been impressive at home recently, winning their last three home games in a row. However, their scoring rate is a problem—in their last ten home games, they have managed to score more than one goal only once. Specifically in the Premier League, this has happened just once in their last nine home games. Our Nottingham vs. Newcastle tip is therefore for under 1.5 goals for Forest.

Nottingham Forest is currently in strong form and heads into the match with plenty of confidence. Three consecutive Premier League wins—including a 4-1 victory over Burnley, a 5-0 win against Sunderland, and a 3-1 win against Chelsea—highlight the team’s offensive firepower. Morgan Gibbs-White has been particularly impressive, having been directly involved in nine goals in the last eight league games. In our Nottingham vs. Newcastle prediction, we could see him scoring again.

Historically, the odds are stacked against Forest in head-to-head matches with Newcastle, but recent results—especially the clear home win last time out—show that the team is on the rise. Another victory would also mark their first streak of two consecutive home wins since spring 2025.

Newcastle United arrives with mixed prospects. On the one hand, the record clearly favors the Magpies: They are unbeaten in their last seven away games at Nottingham Forest and have won all four of their most recent visits. Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has an 86 percent win rate against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League (six wins in seven games)—that’s his second-best record against any opponent.

On the other hand, the team is currently struggling, especially on the road. Just 16 away goals and seven games without scoring this season clearly highlight their offensive struggles. Their form in the 2026 calendar year has also been mixed, with nine losses in 16 games so far. One source of hope remains William Osula, who has the best scoring rate on the team with a goal every 119 minutes.

Nottingham – Newcastle Head-to-Head Record

19 matches ended in a draw. The goal difference also clearly favors Newcastle at 138:108, further underscoring the Magpies’ historical dominance in this rivalry.

Nottingham – Newcastle Prediction

The Nottingham vs. Newcastle betting odds at our bookmaker Betano are fairly even for both teams. Current form clearly favors the hosts, who are unbeaten in their last seven PL matches.

Nevertheless, they lack firepower at home, as the Tricky Trees have managed to score more than one goal in only one of their last nine PL home games.

Historically, however, the form clearly favors the Magpies. Newcastle is unbeaten in seven matches at the City Ground and has won the last four. In addition, Eddie Howe has won six of his seven matches against the hosts and boasts his second-highest win rate against Forest.
