Will the Spurs secure their Premier League status?

Last summer, everything was still going well for both London clubs. While Tottenham won the Europa League and qualified for the Champions League despite a weak Premier League season, the Blues won not only the Conference League but also the FIFA Club World Cup. A year later, however, gloom reigns on the Thames.

But if the prediction of a Spurs away win in the Chelsea vs. Tottenham match comes true, the Lilywhites would at least secure their league survival early. CFC, meanwhile, has slipped to tenth place after seven league games without a win (one draw, six losses), but could still hope for European qualification with a perfect run in their final two league matches.

It’s clear that after an overall disappointing season, both teams will need a major overhaul this summer. At Chelsea FC, it seems certain that Xabi Alonso will be brought in to lead the charge, after both Enzo Maresca and Liam Rosenior failed to deliver and the season is currently being managed by interim coach Calum McFarlane. Meanwhile, the Blues missed a golden opportunity to secure early qualification for Europe on Saturday with a 0-1 loss to Manchester City in the FA Cup final.

It was also their ninth loss in their last twelve competitive matches across all competitions (two wins, one draw). That makes it quite difficult to predict the outcome of this London derby, so we’re opting for the tip that both teams will score.

Although Tottenham have won only one of their last 35 league visits to Stamford Bridge (11 draws, 23 losses), there could well be something in it for the Lilywhites. Despite all their setbacks in the 2025/26 season, the Spurs have already recorded seven away wins in the Premier League, a tally surpassed only by Arsenal (ten) and Manchester City (nine) across the league. Most recently, they secured two consecutive away wins at Wolverhampton (1-0) and Aston Villa (2-1).

Chelsea – Tottenham Head-to-Head Record

Head to Head: 82 – 42 – 56

The London derby between Chelsea FC and Tottenham Hotspur has taken place a total of 180 times, and with 82 wins, the Blues have a clear edge in the head-to-head record.
Not only did CFC win the first leg 1-0, but they have also prevailed against the Spurs in every single one of their last five Premier League clashes. Away at Stamford Bridge, the Lilywhites have managed just a single win in their last 35 league visits (11 draws, 23 losses).

Chelsea – Tottenham Prediction

Although the Blues have earned eleven more points so far this season than their city rivals, who remain in danger of relegation, predicting a home win for the Pensioners in Chelsea vs. Tottenham is still very risky. While CFC has gone seven Premier League games without a win (one draw, six losses) and lost the FA Cup final on Saturday, the Spurs have gone four games in a row without a loss (two wins, two draws), pulling themselves out of the relegation zone and recording two away wins in a row.

We certainly believe the Lilywhites are capable of scoring at Stamford Bridge, which has generally not been a friendly venue for the Spurs. However, since the Blues can only secure a European spot through league play and are therefore desperate for a win, we also expect a response from the home side. Consequently, there’s plenty of value in betting on both teams to score.
