How well are the DFB squad’s tactics coming together?

Following their successful friendly against Finland (4-0), the DFB squad traveled to Chicago to acclimate to conditions in the U.S. After the friendly against the Stars and Stripes, the team will head to their training camp in Winston-Salem. In this final test against the hosts, there will be no experiments; instead, the starting lineup will be put to the test to evaluate their coordination and automatic responses. With this in mind, our USA vs. Germany prediction points to a victory for the DFB squad.

However, the prediction for USA vs. Germany must also take into account that Mauricio Pochettino’s squad, after two consecutive losses, recorded a 3-2 victory over Senegal last Sunday and returned to improved form just in time for the 2026 World Cup in their home country.

Nevertheless, the U.S. national soccer team has lost two of its three international matches in the 2026 calendar year, while Julian Nagelsmann’s squad—following a slump a year ago that saw four consecutive international matches without a win (one draw, three losses)—has now won eight international matches in a row.

Although a full-strength German squad is expected, the match could well be a high-scoring affair. In the Germans’ most recent friendly against the Soccer Boys—who have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their last seven international matches—a total of four goals were scored.

It is known that Julian Nagelsmann plans to start Kai Havertz up front; after the lost Champions League final, Havertz was the last player to join the team and is expected to start against the USA. However, given his impressive form, Deniz Undav is likely to come off the bench at the very least and could once again become the man of the moment.

USA – Germany Head-to-Head Record

Head-to-Head: 4 – 0 – 8

A total of twelve international matches have taken place between the two nations so far, and with eight wins, Germany leads the head-to-head record against the USA.

In their most recent meeting in East Hartford in October 2023, the DFB squad also secured a 3-1 victory over the Americans. However, the Soccer Boys have also won two of the last four matches.

USA – Germany Prediction

The U.S. national soccer team is under almost historic pressure at the World Cup on home soil, a pressure that Mauricio Pochettino’s squad has not always been able to withstand recently.

During the international break in the spring, there were two losses against Belgium (2-5) and Portugal (0-2), which the recent friendly win against Senegal (3-2) could only partially mask, especially since they also conceded two goals in that match. The German national team, on the other hand, arrives with the momentum of eight consecutive international wins and will use this final warm-up match to fine-tune the potential starting lineup for the World Cup opener against Curaçao.

Against this backdrop, there is every reason to believe that the German national soccer team can secure a victory against the Stars and Stripes in Chicago. We therefore recommend betting on a win for the DFB squad, for which Bet-at-home is offering odds of 1.58 on the USA vs. Germany match.
