Will the FCB women flex their muscles in Lisbon?
The FC Bayern women nearly made a complete fool of themselves on Sunday. Against second-division side Gladbach in the DFB Cup, the Munich women trailed 0–1 at halftime and were only able to avert a sensational elimination with two late goals. This performance might even have a positive effect on the Benfica Lisbon vs. Bayern Women tip in the Champions League—after all, Giulia Gwinn and her teammates should now be fully focused again.
Regardless, the Bayern women know that a challenging task awaits them in the Portuguese capital; after all, the Benfica women have been completely undefeated since February 2026.
The Red-and-Whites have long been the standard-bearers at home, having recently celebrated six consecutive league titles and currently riding an 11-game winning streak across all competitions and seasons. The Benfica women’s team suffered their last defeat in regulation time on January 14—almost nine months ago. However, it must be admitted that the quality of their domestic competition is quite limited.
Internationally, Benfica finished the 2025–26 UWCL group stage in third-to-last place with just two points from six games. This made their 2-1 victory at Juventus last week all the more surprising, with both goals coming from the penalty spot. Since November 2025, Benfica has thus scored at least once in every league or European cup match—a factor that automatically supports my Benfica Lisbon vs. Bayern Women prediction for both teams to score.
The Bayern Women also revealed a problem right at the start of the new league phase. Against Manchester City, the Munich team squandered a lead at home and had to settle for a 2-2 draw.
In general, defense is a concern right now, as Barcala’s squad has kept a clean sheet in only one of their past seven games—a 3-0 home win against promoted Mainz 05. In the Bundesliga, a whopping 24 goals have been scored in five FCB matches, while the Munich women have conceded at least one goal in every away game.
Benfica Lisbon – Bayern Women Head-to-Head Record
In the matchup between Benfica Lisbon and Bayern Women, the betting odds point to the German champions as clear favorites. This is due, among other things, to their head-to-head record, which Bayern clearly leads with three wins and one draw in four matchups so far.
After a 0-0 draw in the season opener in Lisbon in 2021/22, FCB won all three subsequent matches. First 4–0, then 3–2 in Portugal, and most recently 2–0 in Munich in 2022. I think a handicap win is definitely possible on Wednesday night as well.
Benfica Lisbon – Bayern Women’s Tip
Despite some recently shaky performances, the odds are in Bayern Women’s favor; they clearly outpace Benfica in head-to-head matchups with three wins and one draw in four encounters. At the same time, the Portuguese side has been undefeated since February and kicked off the new league phase with a 2-1 win at Juventus, while Bayern only managed a 2-2 draw against Manchester City. However, Benfica hasn’t kept a clean sheet in any of its last nine European cup games, while Bayern has found the net in twelve consecutive Champions League matches. But: Benfica, too, has scored in every league and European cup match since November 2025!
Not least for this reason, my Benfica Lisbon vs. Bayern Women prediction is for “Both Teams to Score” at odds of 1.88 on the Betano app, which I’m betting five units on. While the German champions remain the favorites in my view, the Munich team’s defensive vulnerabilities and Benfica’s impressive scoring streak suggest this won’t be a completely one-sided match. A straightforward Bayern (-1.5) handicap win still seems possible, however. So does the option of combining the Munich team’s likely victory with an over on total goals—after all, the Bayern women’s team hasn’t exactly been lacking in spectacle lately.
