Will the Spurs Stay at the Bottom of the Table?
In this crisis clash on Matchday 6 of the Premier League, there’s already a lot at stake for Manchester United and Tottenham. The Manchester United vs. Tottenham prediction is, of course, heavily influenced by the two so-called top teams’ disastrous starts to the season so far.
While the Red Devils sit on five points, the Spurs are at the bottom of the table with just two points. For three weeks now, Tottenham fans have had to endure taunts and ridicule regarding their position in the standings.
After five matchdays, Manchester United has managed only one win, two draws, and two losses, and even went three consecutive Premier League matches without a win before the international break. Across all competitions, the Red Devils have won only two of their seven matches so far—a 4-0 victory over Azerbaijani Champions League underdog Sabah FK and a 5-2 win against newly promoted Ipswich Town.
After what was actually a promising season last year, their form is already heading in the wrong direction again. Nevertheless, just about everyone around Old Trafford is expecting a home win against the bottom-of-the-table team, which is in even worse form. But that’s exactly where the crux of the matter lies for me, which is why I’d avoid betting on a home win between Manchester United and Tottenham.
The Spurs’ record looks even more problematic; despite an active summer transfer window, they’ve yet to show any results. Under coach Roberto De Zerbi, the team is therefore under pressure early on, especially since Tottenham has scored only two goals after five matchdays and failed to score at all in four of its five Premier League matches.
It’s interesting, however, that the xPoints—which are based, among other things, on the underlying xG values—indicate significantly more potential, suggesting that Tottenham would have deserved only a loss. With a truly high-quality roster, their offensive slump could end at any moment.
Manchester United – Tottenham Head-to-Head Record
Looking at recent history, the Manchester United vs. Tottenham betting odds are, in my view, a bit too one-sided in favor of the Red Devils. Tottenham has won four of the past six matches against Manchester United across all competitions. In the last ten meetings, United has managed only two wins, while the Spurs have dealt them several setbacks during that period.
At Old Trafford, however, the picture changes significantly, as Tottenham has already lost 25 away games in Manchester United’s iconic stadium throughout its Premier League history. Historically, only one other team in the English top flight has suffered even more away losses at a single club.

Manchester United vs. Tottenham Prediction
During the international break, much of the Premier League’s attention was focused on Manchester City—a circumstance that pushed Manchester United and Tottenham somewhat out of the spotlight, even though there’s plenty to talk about at both clubs.
After a weak start to the season, United sits in 12th place and has now gone four consecutive domestic games without a win, while Tottenham is even at the bottom of the table. Particularly alarming for the Red Devils: for the first time since December 2024, they are on the verge of three straight home losses. For the Spurs, however, the raw results are significantly more negative than their underlying performances would suggest.
That’s exactly why I particularly like the Double Chance X2 bet in the Manchester United vs. Tottenham prediction. Tottenham has won four of the last six head-to-head matches against United and, given their recent form, could very well be in a position to take something away from Old Trafford as well. The odds of 2.18 on the Betano app are therefore attractive enough for me to bet four units on X2. If you want to further reduce the risk, you can bet on X2 for the first half alone. Alternatively, a bet that the Londoners will score the first goal of the match also offers good value at top odds of 2.60.
