Who will win the first NFC South battle?
It’s the first NFL Sunday of the new season and our Falcons vs. Buccaneers tip already features a highly anticipated duel in the NFC South. These two teams have been battling it out for the division title in recent years – with the Bucs always coming out on top.
However, the Falcons have won most of the recent head-to-head matches, including two real scoring festivals in the previous season. A total of 66 and 57 points were scored in those games, so we can expect another high-scoring game on Sunday. After all, both teams know each other well enough.
In 12 of the last 14 meetings, the 47-point mark was reached, so our prediction for Chargers vs. Chiefs is another high-scoring game that could ultimately go to Tampa Bay once again. Although they are missing star receiver Chris Godwin, they have not had any major changes to their roster in the offseason.
Kick-off for the hot NFC South duel is on Sunday at 7:00 p.m. in Atlanta. In addition to this NFL tip, Wettbasis is now offering the full NFL program again every week, including the Monday Night Game: this week, the Chicago Bears against the Minnesota Vikings.
Atlanta Falcons – Tampa Bay Buccaneers Head-to-head comparison / H2H record
As we mentioned earlier, the Bucs have done quite well against the Falcons in recent years. Atlanta has won four of the last five matchups, although four of those five games were decided by only one score.
This makes the odds for a clear victory quite uninteresting for Atlanta vs. Tampa Bay. However, pure win bets are of course possible – in our opinion, slightly more in favor of the Bucs. On the one hand, they will want to get revenge for the preseason, and on the other hand, they have the significantly more experienced quarterback on the field in Baker Mayfield.
The Bucs’ two losses to Atlanta last year were down to Kirk Cousins, who was replaced by Michael Penix towards the end of the season. So he is still waiting for his first win – not just against Tampa, but against any opponent in the NFC South.
Atlanta Falcons – Tampa Bay Buccaneers Tip
Baker Mayfield is certainly the decisive difference in this duel, which makes tips on Tampa more playable for us. However, win tips are not our main tip for this matchup anyway. There is a lot to suggest another offensive spectacle, which both Mayfield and Penix are very good at.
In Penix’s only game against an NFC South rival (Carolina) last season, there were 82 total points. Since Mayfield is always good for shootouts, we recommend betting on over 47.0 total points in Atlanta vs. Tampa Bay.
However, we would like to make another recommendation: for a player bet. With the Bucs missing two key wide receivers in Chris Godwin and Jalen McMillan, Mike Evans is likely to become even more of a target. We would therefore not be surprised if he ends up catching at least ten balls.
This naturally increases the chances of him carrying one of them into the end zone. A TD bet on Mike Evans is therefore also a very good option, especially since the odds for this at Betano are well above the 2 mark.
