Will the top favorite take it easy?
Two of the three hosts of Euro 2026 face each other in the duel between Denmark and Norway, and Wettbasis has a tip ready! However, the Danes have the advantage of playing in front of their own fans, as the match will take place in Herning.
It’s not just because of their home advantage that the hosts are considered favorites. The four-time world champions simply have a better squad and are the only team in Group 1 that has not dropped a point in the main round.
Thanks to this haul, the Danes have already booked their place in the semifinals. For their opponents, on the other hand, it’s all about qualifying for the fifth-place play-off. To do so, however, they will need help from the German team, who are playing France before the Norwegians take to the ice.
Only if the European champions lose would Jonas Wille’s team have a mathematical chance of achieving this goal if they win their own game. We don’t expect this to happen, but at the same time we don’t expect the Danes, who have already qualified, to win by a landslide. For the match between Denmark and Norway, our prediction is therefore that the underdogs will lose by a maximum of six goals.
Furthermore, Norway can rely on August Pedersen: the left winger plays for Hannover at club level and is having a great European Championship. With 43 goals, he is second in the scoring charts and his shooting percentage of 81.1 percent is even the best!
His form is not letting up either – he recently scored ten goals against Portugal, once again the best tally for his team. Not least because of his strong performances, the odds on more than 28 goals by Wille’s team are equally recommendable in the showdown between Denmark and Norway. This is further supported by the fact that the Norwegians have scored the fourth-most goals in the tournament, just three fewer than the Danes!
Denmark – Norway Head-to-head record
The Norwegian team has not had much success in this matchup for quite some time. The two-time World Cup runners-up have been waiting for a win against the Danes for 13 games, and only two of those encounters, including friendlies, did not end in defeat for them.
From a statistical point of view, it is therefore not surprising that the odds for the upcoming clash between Denmark and Norway are leaning towards a win for the hosts.
Denmark – Norway Tip
Denmark can approach the match against Norway in a relaxed manner. Thanks to their recent victory against the German national team, they have already secured their ticket to the semifinals. As a result, the four-time world champions will not be overly motivated and will instead try to save their energy for the upcoming semifinals.
At the same time, they will not want to suffer a defeat that could jeopardize their recent strong form. Instead, we can expect them to “play by the book,” and given the enormous class of the Scandinavians, even this “handbrake on” match plan should be enough against the Norwegian team.
