Will the Cowboys also roll over the Lions?
After Thanksgiving Thursday comes the next regular Thursday game in our Lions vs. Cowboys tip. Both teams were already in action on the last matchday of the week – with varying degrees of success. While the Lions lost out in the division duel against the Packers, the Cowboys beat the Kansas City Chiefs at home.
Problems for the Boys: Now they’re back on the road, and so far they have a 2-4 record on the road, with losses in Chicago and Carolina, for example. Since Dallas isn’t particularly strong on defense, we see the Lions as the favorites despite the absence of Amon-Ra St. Brown.
In addition, the Lions have fond memories of the Cowboys. The two teams last met in October last year, when Detroit crushed Dallas 47-9. The Lions’ running game was outstanding, with 184 rushing yards and two touchdowns – in this case by David Montgomery.
All these points speak slightly to moderately in favor of Detroit, who also enjoy home advantage. That’s why our prediction for Lions vs. Cowboys is a home win for Detroit, which would deal a serious blow to the Cowboys’ playoff hopes.
Kick-off for this Thursday Night matchup is at 2:15 a.m. in Detroit on Friday morning. The game can be watched live on DAZN.
Detroit Lions – Dallas Cowboys Head-to-head comparison / H2H record
47:9 – the last head-to-head matchup between these two traditional teams was not only a clear-cut affair, it was a rout. While Jared Goff threw three touchdowns in that game, Dak Prescott had two interceptions.
Prescott is in really good form at the moment, but he does have the occasional off day. We wouldn’t be surprised if Thursday in Detroit turned out to be another one of those days. He’s not always the most reliable quarterback, especially in ultra-important games.
And for the Cowboys, it’s extremely important, as a loss would almost knock them out of the playoff race due to the very strong NFC. For us, the odds on Detroit are definitely more playable in Lions vs. Cowboys, as they have the better running game with Gibbs and Montgomery and can thus better compensate for a slightly weaker QB day.
Detroit Lions – Dallas Cowboys Tip
Yes, the Cowboys’ rushing defense has improved significantly recently after the signing of Quinnen Williams. Nevertheless, the Chiefs again managed 119 rushing yards on Thursday – with significantly worse personnel than the Lions currently have at their disposal.
They average 138.1 rushing yards per game, and that should make a big difference against the Cowboys. Therefore, our favorite betting option for Lions vs. Cowboys is Detroit -3. Alternatively, the odds on the Lions can also be combined with a touchdown by Jahmyr Gibbs.
For this game, we don’t have a player bet as an alternative tip, but rather a points bet. Based on the Cowboys’ early results this season, the bookmakers are setting the bar incredibly high with up to 54 points. Can they do it? Yes, they can, but we’re expecting a slightly different script on Thursday.
With so much at stake for both teams, it will be more like a playoff game – and therefore with more defense and fewer points. So, a bet on under 54 total points is worth considering for us. Especially in the first quarter, there has been less action than expected in Lions games recently.
