Next exclamation mark for the world champions?
In sporting terms, the European Basketball Championship could not have gone better for the German national team so far. For only the second time since 2022, when they won the bronze medal, the DBB team has started the European Championship finals with three wins in three games.
The only downside is the health of national coach Alex Mumbru, who was discharged from hospital at the weekend but will be replaced by his assistant Ibrahimagic for the fourth game of the tournament. Of course, this does not change the starting position. Anything other than a Germany vs. Great Britain tip on another landslide victory for the 2023 world champions can be more or less categorically ruled out.
A look at the betting providers with the best odds also paints a clear picture. Odds on the two-way market are not even being offered. Instead, the primary question is how high the DBB giants will win their fourth preliminary round match. After Montenegro was defeated by 30 points, Sweden by 22 points, and even the strong Lithuanians by 19 points in the opening games, my Germany vs. Great Britain prediction is that Wagner and Co. will once again come close to a 30-point victory margin.
The fact that this is their fourth match in six days also plays into the Germans’ hands. The roster, consisting of twelve players, not only has more individual quality, but also remarkable depth. It cannot be ruled out that, in the event of an early and high lead, playing time will be redistributed somewhat. Against this backdrop, I am holding back on a potential handicap bet and am instead aiming for an over-points betting tip.
Dennis Schröder and his teammates have now completely internalized Alex Mumbru’s incredibly fast style of play and try to step on the gas after every rebound or even after every opponent’s basket. Logically, this approach leads to more attacks for both sides, automatically increasing the overall score.
In all three of Germany’s tournament games so far, at least 182 points have been scored. The average is even 188 points. This makes the odds of over 174.5 points all the more interesting ahead of the preliminary round match between Germany and Great Britain at Euro Basket 2025. Assuming that the 2023 world champions once again score well over 100 points, just 70 points from the British would be enough to break the line! This basketball tip for the European Championship is therefore a healthy alternative to all the soccer bets on Monday!
Germany – Great Britain Head-to-head comparison / H2H record
On paper, the British national basketball team is actually something of a bogey team for the Germans. Three of the four international matches between the two nations to date have actually gone to Great Britain. This was also the case in the most recent encounter in February 2021, when the British won 83-81.
Four years later, the omens are very different. The DBB team finished third at the 2022 European Championships and even crowned themselves world champions in Japan in 2023. Great Britain was already pleased with its qualification, but has so far failed to make an impression in three games at the European Championships. The team, which includes two long-time BBL players, Myles Hesson and Gabe Olaseni, has suffered three clear defeats.
Germany – Great Britain Tip
The situation ahead of the German basketball team’s fourth tournament game against Great Britain could hardly be more one-sided. While the DBB giants are sitting at the top of the table with three wins and have celebrated those victories with an average margin of more than 20 points, the British are still waiting for their first win after three clear defeats.
This will definitely not happen on Monday afternoon in Tampere, Finland. The team of assistant coach Ibrahimagic, who continues to stand in for the ailing Mumbru, is likely to score another landslide victory under normal circumstances.
Because Andi Obst and his teammates have been setting off one offensive firework after another and easily breaking the 100-point mark three times so far, I recommend betting on over 174.5 points for the Germany vs. Great Britain match.
