Will the Jags capitalize on their London experience?
London Calling! The NFL is once again looking to the United Kingdom to kick off Football Sunday. As in previous weeks, American football will be broadcast on German free-to-air TV on RTL from 3:30 p.m. – with our Jaguars vs. Rams tip.
The Jacksonville Jaguars are a franchise that has played a match in the UK almost every season for the past eleven years. In 2023 and 2024, they even played two matches each year. This season, the team is once again making the trip across the pond. This time, however, it’s only for a guest appearance.
The Jaguars will host the Rams at Wembley Stadium, and a prediction of a closely contested match is by no means far-fetched. Both teams are coming into the game with a 4-2 record. The Jaguars suffered their second defeat last week, losing 12-20 to Seattle. Now they face a team from the NFC West for the third time this season.
Kick-off for this International Game is on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at Wembley Stadium in London. Los Angeles is the favorite in the matchup according to the best bookmakers. Now the team may be missing an important offensive weapon in Puka Nacua. That’s why a bet on the nominal visitors should be placed with caution in the Jags vs. Rams matchup. However, the opponents also have injury concerns.
Jacksonville Jaguars – Los Angeles Rams Head-to-head comparison / H2H record
That’s why we’re starting the H2H section with a look at the players who may be missing. Two names immediately catch the eye in the injury report: Linebacker Devon Lloyd, who has already caught four interceptions this season, is definitely out for the Jags. This is undoubtedly a huge blow to what has been a very solid defense so far.
The MacVay team, on the other hand, is facing the loss of NFL leading receiver Puka Nacua. Unlike Lloyd, however, there is still a small chance that Nacua will be able to play at Wembley Stadium. Without these two key players, the matchup could well change. If Nacua is missing, LA will inevitably have to create more on the ground and would be more dependent on the run game around Kyren Williams.
An international game naturally invites us to take a look at the teams’ records when they have played abroad. The Florida franchise has played 13 international games, making it the NFL leader in this regard. Their record in London is slightly positive at 7-6. The last time the Rams played internationally was actually six years ago. They have two wins and two losses in London.
There have been six direct matchups between the two franchises since 1996, with Jacksonville coming out on top only once. The last meeting, in 2021, was the only game between quarterbacks Trevor Lawrence and Matthew Stafford to date. However, it is unlikely that Sunday’s game in London will be as one-sided as the 37-7 victory on matchday 13 in 2021. If Jacksonville manages to win, betting odds of up to 2.45 (1/X/2) can be found on the markets between the Jaguars and the Rams.
Jacksonville Jaguars – Los Angeles Rams Tip
Our prediction leans in a direction that we have not yet addressed in our analysis. We consider the over/under for the game to be too high at 45.5 points. Both defenses could take control in London, which leads us to predict a maximum of 45 points in the game. So, for Jaguars vs. Rams, the odds on under 46.0 total points are still at a playable level and are our betting recommendation.
Especially since both defenses are among the top defenses in the league, under points are to be expected here. The Rams allow only 18.3 points on average and the Jags only 20.0. In addition, London games are often lower scoring due to jet lag and other limiting factors.
Another betting alternative that catches the eye is a player bet. Due to the possible absence of receiver Nacua, wide receiver number two, Davante Adams, will have to take on a bigger role. A touchdown by Adams brings attractive odds in the Bwin app and many other sports betting apps between the Jaguars and Rams.
