How many more daily wins will The Ferret secure?
As the first professional of this Premier League season, The Ferret secured his second daily win last matchday – in impressive fashion. His underdog status at the top sportsbooks therefore surprises us in our Jonny Clayton vs. Luke Humphries prediction.
Especially after the Welshman put in an excellent performance in the Nottingham final and defeated Cool Hand Luke 6-1. For our Jonny Clayton vs. Luke Humphries prediction, we naturally take much more data into account.
A clear argument for a victory by the league leader is his consistency. Week after week, the 51-year-old consistently finishes his legs. Among all eight Premier League participants, no one comes close to his checkout rate of 47.88 percent. It is precisely in this aspect of the game that his opponent faces even greater difficulties.
The world number two, with a checkout rate of 34.69 percent in the current Premier League season, is only ahead of Josh Rock (23.21 percent). Given the Jonny Clayton vs. Luke Humphries betting odds on offer, one wouldn’t necessarily expect such figures.
Furthermore, the Englishman is the only player who has yet to conjure up a high finish of 140 or more points on the board in any of the first six nights. By the time of the Nottingham final, however, Cool Hand Luke had played respectably and knocked Gian van Veen (6:4) and Luke Littler (6:5) out of the mini-tournament.
Jonny Clayton – Luke Humphries Head-to-Head Record
We’ve already briefly discussed the last time these two top players faced off. The Ferret won the Nottingham final 6-1, combining excellent finishing skills with consistently high scoring and leaving the one-time Premier League champion no chance.
As a result, the Welshman actually won his third consecutive head-to-head match. The 51-year-old secured every single victory in this phase by a margin of at least two legs. Over the past twelve months, the massive differences in checkout rates have been striking in their head-to-head matches. Clayton won 65.52 percent of the legs played and came close to the 50 percent checkout mark (47.50 percent). Humphries, on the other hand, fell well short of his potential (25.64 percent checkout rate).
Jonny Clayton – Luke Humphries Prediction
Clayton’s functional double rate is breathtakingly high at 59.85 percent and forms the basis for his commanding lead at the top of the table. Humphries has built up a negative leg ratio (-2) so far and secured nine points—more than twice as many as The Ferret (19).
Once again, we come back to the issue of checkouts, which has already cost Humphries the win in several matches. This is also evident in his functional double rate of 41.13 percent—only Josh Rock (26.53 percent) has been weaker on the double fields in decisive moments.
If we compare the 180s thrown per leg by the two, we see hardly any difference—not a good sign for Cool Hand Luke. While Littler has thrown the most maximums per leg among all eight players (0.43), Luke Humphries (0.38) and Jonny Clayton (0.34) are right behind him.
