Will the Broncos remain No. 1 in the AFC?
Who would have thought? It’s Week 17 in the NFL, and our Chiefs vs. Broncos tip is only relevant for one of the teams, and it’s not the Chiefs. For the first time since the 2014 season, the Chiefs are missing the playoffs. Since 2016, they have even won the AFC West consistently – the title that the Broncos now want to win.
With backup Gardner Minshew tearing his cruciate ligament after Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City will have to compete with third QB Chris Oladokun on Thursday night. Accordingly, they are clear underdogs in their own stadium.
Betting companies see a difference of between 13 and 14 points, giving the Chiefs barely ten points. We think that’s an exaggeration and believe that Kansas City will mainly score with field goals. They probably won’t make it all the way to the end zone against Denver, so Harrison Butker’s time will come.
All in all, our prediction for Chiefs vs. Broncos is, of course, a Broncos victory, with Denver scoring significantly more touchdowns than the Chiefs. Whether they will cover the 13.5-point handicap remains to be seen.
Kick-off for the AFC West game is at 2:15 a.m. on Friday night in Kansas City. The game will be broadcast live on DAZN.
Kansas City Chiefs – Denver Broncos Head-to-head comparison / H2H record
For years, the Broncos were a favorite opponent of the Chiefs, but that has changed in the last two years or so. Three of the last four head-to-head matches went to Denver, who also won the first meeting in mid-November – and Patrick Mahomes was still playing then.
This shows that even without the Chiefs’ injury problems, the Broncos are having the better season. The predictions for Thursday are correspondingly clear. It’s difficult to bet on the Broncos with this handicap, so we have to look for other options.
So, in Chiefs vs. Broncos, the odds on a touchdown by Sutton are worth taking advantage of, as are those on a few field goals by the Chiefs. He was already the most sought-after man on the Chiefs offense against the Chargers (2) and the Titans (3). That is likely to be repeated against the Broncos.
Kansas City Chiefs – Denver Broncos Tip
The Broncos have one of the best defenses in the NFL, even if they are not statistically among the top 3. With an average of 19.6 points allowed, they “only” rank 4th. However, they are now facing a backup of the Chiefs’ backup QB, so they should be able to hold them to under 14.5 points.
Over points are therefore not recommended in this game, so our number one tip for Chiefs vs. Broncos is a touchdown by Sutton at strong odds. As mentioned above, field goal bets on Kansas City (Butker) are another option that is worth considering.
Another betting alternative is a touchdown by RJ Harvey. He has scored five touchdowns in his last four games and could find the end zone again on Thursday.
