Will the Chiefs finally start their comeback?
Surprise losers against surprise team is the story on Sunday in our Chiefs vs. Colts tip. Before the season, hardly any expert would have predicted that the Indianapolis Colts would come into this matchup on NFL Game Day 12 with three more wins under their belt.
With 8-2 wins, the Colts dominate the AFC South, while the Chiefs are only third in the AFC West with their 5-5 record. They are even in danger of missing the playoffs – especially if they lose Sunday’s game at home. So Pat Mahomes and his teammates are already feeling the pressure of the postseason.
But in recent years, hardly any team has coped better with this pressure than the Chiefs. That’s why we expect the serial champions to respond to their latest defeat in Denver, especially as the matchup with Indianapolis suits them a little better.
The Colts have a top rushing offense, but the Chiefs also have a top 10 rushing defense. This should limit Indy’s offense and allow them to take control of the game, which is why our prediction for Chiefs vs. Colts is a narrow home win for Kansas City.
Kick-off for this playoff-deciding duel is on Sunday at 7:00 p.m. in Kansas City. The game will be broadcast live and exclusively on the streaming service DAZN.
Kansas City Chiefs – Indianapolis Colts Head-to-head comparison / H2H record
There is another point that gives the Colts hope ahead of this matchup – three of the last five head-to-head matches went to Indianapolis. However, the last meeting was over three years ago, and at that time the Chiefs were under much less pressure.
And when the pressure is on, there’s no quarterback in the NFL you’d rather have on the field than Patrick Mahomes. If he gets a little more support from his own running game on Sunday (only 62 rushing yards against Denver), then the Chiefs should be able to get the job done here.
So, in Chiefs vs. Colts, the odds on a Chiefs win are definitely playable. We would even consider a handicap of up to -3.5 points to be playable here. However, we would avoid betting on the total score, as the Chiefs could well keep this game at a low scoring level.
Kansas City Chiefs – Indianapolis Colts Tip
The Chiefs allow an average of exactly 100.0 rushing yards, while the Colts average 145.3 rushing yards. Whichever team comes closer to its average in this statistic will have a good chance of winning the game. We have a little more confidence in the Chiefs’ defense here.
That’s why our betting recommendation for Chiefs vs. Colts is Kansas City -3. Bets on the Chiefs in the 4th quarter are also possible here, as this has not necessarily been the Colts’ quarter so far this season. Despite their strong record, they have only won five times.
As a player bet, we’re going with the old man who’s getting better and better: Travis Kelce, with two touchdowns in the last three games. Most recently against the Broncos, he had 91 yards on nine catches – Mahomes will be looking for him again on Sunday, which makes a TD bet on Kelce very interesting.
