Will the Slovenians continue to storm through the Euros?

A preliminary decision in the battle for tickets to the Euro 2026 semifinals will be made in the duel between Slovenia and Croatia. We venture a prediction! The Slovenian team has not made a significant impression in the continental finals so far.

Their only achievement is a runner-up title, and that was 22 years ago. Currently, however, Uroš Zorman’s team is playing very consistently. They recently defeated Hungary, once again thanks to their strong offense, which scored 35 goals.

After five games at the 2026 European Championship, the Slovenians have already scored 175 goals, a tally surpassed only by European champions France! Against this backdrop, a prediction of more than 29.5 goals by Zorman’s team in the match between Slovenia and Croatia seems likely to pay off.

In addition, we expect more than six goals from Domen Makuc. The FC Barcelona backcourt player has been particularly reliable in front of goal at the European Championship, averaging 7.4 goals per game: only two players have scored more goals than the 25-year-old in the tournament, and he has exceeded the selected goal limit in the majority (3) of his five European Championship games!

Given the Slovenian team’s predominantly strong performances so far, we also see value in the Slovenia vs. Croatia odds in the +1.5 handicap.

Slovenia – Croatia Head-to-head comparison / H2H statistics

The last direct duel between the two countries took place at last year’s World Cup. Croatia took home the victory with a score of 29:26. At the same time, it was the Croatians’ third win in the last four matches (including test matches) between these two teams.

For the upcoming showdown between Slovenia and Croatia, the odds are once again pointing moderately towards another victory for coach Dagur Sigurðsson’s team.

Slovenia – Croatia Tip

With four points each, the Slovenians and Croatians are hopeful in the fight to reach the semifinals in the main round. Although Iceland and Sweden currently occupy the top two places, they also have only this number of points.

The close standings suggest a particularly intense duel, and in our opinion, another convincing performance by the Slovenian offense is on the cards. With players in top form such as Domen Makuc and Blaz Janc, the 2004 European Championship runners-up are very efficient going forward.

This is clearly evident from the fact that Slovenia have scored the most goals at Euro 2026 after France and have always scored 30 or more goals in their five games played. Given this offensive strength, we believe that the betting odds for the match between Slovenia and Croatia are once again more than 29.5 goals for the sixth-placed team in the last European Championship!
