The next setback for the Godenzonen?

In January of this year, both teams clashed in the Europa League group stage, with Ajax Amsterdam celebrating a 2-1 home win. Since then, however, things have taken a turn for the worse for the Godenzonen. The Dutch have lost their last six European competitive games, equaling their longest losing streak in Europe in the club’s history. If Ajax Amsterdam’s tip for an away win for the Lions against Galatasaray proves correct, it would set a new negative club record for Ajax.

On a positive note, the Dutch have at least turned things around at the national level. In the Champions League, however, they have lost all three games, leaving the Godenzonen currently at the bottom of the table, having scored only one goal but conceded eleven. Both are the worst records of all 36 teams in the competition, which is why our prediction for Ajax Amsterdam vs. Galatasaray leans toward the visitors from the Bosphorus, who have recently recorded two wins in a row in the Champions League and are also unbeaten after eleven matchdays in the Süperlig (nine wins, two draws). Nevertheless, we are hedging our bet on a draw with a draw no bet against the possibility of a point being shared.

On the other hand, those who would not categorically rule out an Ajax home win can simply bet on Cimbom scoring at least two goals in the Dutch capital in what is likely to be a high-scoring match. This is supported by the fact that the Godenzonen are currently the Champions League league stage’s shooting gallery, having conceded eleven goals in three games. Odds of 1.58 are available at Bet-at-home for over 1.5 goals for the Yellow-Reds in Ajax Amsterdam vs. Galatasaray.

Ajax Amsterdam vs. Galatasaray Prediction AI

According to the AI prediction for Ajax Amsterdam vs. Galatasaray, everything points to a home win for the Godenzonen. This is primarily justified by the high odds for tip 1. The AI, on the other hand, gives the Dutch a 34.7 percent chance of winning, which creates a positive expected value.

Ajax Amsterdam – Statistics & current form

Ajax Amsterdam has at least gotten back on track in the domestic Eredivisie. A 3-2 win at Twente was followed by a 1-1 draw against Heerenveen. This puts Johnny Heitinga’s team back in fourth place and they are now hoping for a turnaround on the international stage as well. The most recent head-to-head comparison slightly favors Ajax: at the beginning of the year, Amsterdam won 2-1 against Galatasaray in the Europa League group stage.

Since then, however, not much has gone right. The Dutch side are currently going through a tough phase and have suffered six European defeats in a row. That is a negative record in the club’s history (as in 1988/89). In the current Champions League season, Ajax has spent 78 percent of the playing time behind and conceded a goal on all three match days with the very first or second shot on goal by the opponent.

Ajax Amsterdam also disappointed offensively across the board

The output is also minimal in attack. No team scored fewer goals (only one) and had so few shots on the opponent’s goal (five) in the first three matchdays of the CL league phase as the Godenzonen, which is why we cannot understand the tip suggested by the supercomputer BETSiE for Ajax Amsterdam against Galatasaray. Most recently, the 1995 Champions League winners were completely crushed 5-1 by Chelsea FC.

One small ray of hope: Wout Weghorst scored in the 5-1 defeat on the Thames, netting his third European goal since 2020. However, he has only scored more than once in one of his last five European Cup seasons (two goals in 2019/20 for Wolfsburg in the Europa League). So if the turnaround is to happen now, it would also be up to the striker to polish up this record again.

Galatasaray – Statistics & current form

Galatasaray Istanbul is completely unbeaten at the national level after eleven matchdays (nine wins, two draws) and leads the Süperlig table with a four-point lead over Fenerbahce. However, Saturday’s dress rehearsal against Trabzonspor ended in a “mere” 0-0 draw. Meanwhile, there has been an explosion of performance on the international stage. The crushing 5-1 defeat in Frankfurt was followed by victories against Liverpool (1-0) and Bodö/Glimt (3-1).

Only away from home did things not go so well. In 2025, Cimbom lost every away game in the European Cup – including the aforementioned away game in Amsterdam in January 2025. Historically, they are still waiting for their first away win in the Netherlands (six defeats, one draw). Incidentally, three of these seven away games took place last season (one draw, two defeats), including defeats at Ajax and AZ.

Galatasaray hopes for Osimhen’s accuracy

Nevertheless, the odds from the top bookmakers for Ajax Amsterdam vs. Galatasaray are leaning towards the Lions, who produced 23 shots on goal on matchday three – as many as they last did in December 2014 (against Arsenal). The eleven shots on the opponent’s goal even match the club record since data collection began.

Victor Osimhen has scored in his last seven consecutive European Cup games. The last player to achieve this was Robert Lewandowski (nine for Bayern, 2020/21). If the Nigerian striker continues his run in the Netherlands, Galatasaray could win three Champions League games in a row for the first time since December 2012 (under Fatih Terim).

Ajax Amsterdam – Galatasaray Head-to-head record / H2H record

Head to head: 1 – 0 – 0

Only one international competitive match has taken place between the two teams so far, and that game dates back to the current calendar year. In January, both teams met in the league phase of the UEFA Europa League. Ajax Amsterdam recorded a 2-1 home win against Galatasaray, giving the Godenzonen the lead in the head-to-head comparison.

Ajax Amsterdam – Galatasaray Tip

KI finds the greatest value in betting on a home win for the out-of-form Godenzonen, our prediction for Ajax Amsterdam vs. Galatasaray is an away win for the Turks, who recently celebrated two consecutive victories against Liverpool (1-0) and Bodö/Glimt (3-1).

The Lions fired off an impressive 23 shots against the Norwegians last time out, which is why we think Cimbom has a good chance of generating enough shots on goal against the current whipping boys of the Champions League (Ajax has already conceded eleven goals) to win three consecutive Champions League games for the first time since 2012.

Considering that the Godenzonen have shown a slight improvement in performance nationally, we would at least like to rule out the possibility of a draw, which is why we are going for tip 2 with a “draw no bet.” For this, the Bet365 app offers odds of 1.50 for Ajax Amsterdam vs. Galatasaray, which we are betting on with seven out of ten units.
