Who will claim the first title on the island?
The first title of the season in England will be decided on Sunday afternoon at the venerable Wembley Stadium. Although it is “only” the EFL Cup title—less prestigious than the FA Cup—the clash between the Premier League leaders and the second-place team naturally brings plenty of excitement.
Although recent performances in the Champions League and league play actually provided more reasons to back Arsenal in an Arsenal vs. Manchester City matchup, I definitely think the Cityzens are capable of lifting the trophy. After all, the Sky Blues have won this competition in four of the last eight seasons. Arsenal last claimed the crown over 30 years ago…
However, the Gunners secured a spot in the Champions League quarterfinals this week, while Manchester City were eliminated without a fight by Real Madrid. Last weekend, the capital club also extended their lead at the top of the table with a 2-0 home win against Everton, as Guardiola’s side had to settle for a disappointing draw against West Ham United.
However, it’s also clear that the Arsenal vs. Manchester City prediction must take into account that the cards are completely reshuffled in a final. That’s exactly why I expect a 50/50 match with completely even odds. Since neither team wants to fall behind, I believe we can expect a low-scoring final.
On the one hand, the significance of this title match naturally points to a game with few goals in regulation time. On the other hand, so does the approach of Arteta’s team, which is based on defensive stability and minimizing risk when in possession. It’s quite possible that Manchester City will control the game through possession, while the Gunners will hope for counterattacks and set pieces.
Because, as I’ve already mentioned, I expect a closely contested match and the neutral venue also guarantees excitement, I believe it’s more profitable to take advantage of the higher betting odds between Arsenal and Manchester City on the cup triumph of the supposed underdog from the industrial city.
Arsenal – Manchester City Head-to-Head Record
Before the potentially decisive Premier League clash is on the agenda in a few weeks, the two sides will first meet for the second time this season in the EFL Cup. The first encounter in London ended in a fair 1-1 draw. It was already the sixth consecutive match in which Arsenal did not lose to Manchester City.
However: The last two matches in cup competitions went to Manchester City. In general, the Premier League standings should not be used as the basis for your bet. The cup has its own rules and consistently allows even the supposedly weaker teams to spring surprises.

Arsenal – Manchester City Prediction
The betting odds from Germany’s top bookmakers suggest Arsenal FC is the favorite. No wonder, as the Londoners are in better form, have recently fulfilled their obligations in the league and the Champions League, and are also comfortably leading the table on the island.
In my opinion, however, none of that will matter in Sunday’s EFL Cup final. Manchester City has more experience in major finals, has won this competition in four of the past eight seasons, and is desperate to bounce back after their knockout in the Champions League.
My approach would therefore be to back the high-value 2.10 odds on the Cityzens winning the title. Even more interesting, however, is the Arsenal vs. Manchester City bet on Under 2.5 goals in regulation time. There’s a lot at stake. Both teams have solid defenses and know how difficult it will be to come back if they fall behind.
