Another show of strength from the Catalans?

No Yamal? No problem! In the absence of superstar Lamine Yamal, who returned from the Spanish national team with back problems, FC Barcelona has secured its next two victories. Last week, the Catalans defeated their favorite opponents Valencia 6-0 in the league. This was followed by an important 2-1 triumph in the Champions League in Newcastle on Thursday. Marcus Rashford scored twice to become his team’s match winner!

Despite the rigors of travel and the shortened preparation time, I am convinced that there is no way around betting on the reigning champions in the Spanish top flight on Sunday between Barcelona and Getafe.

However, caution is advised, as the visitors from the suburbs of Madrid have had a very strong season so far and, with three wins in the first four matchdays, are definitely one of the surprise teams. The “Azulones” secured away wins against Europa League participants Celta Vigo and Sevilla. Six goals scored is also an outstanding achievement for Getafe, as the dark blues traditionally define themselves through strong, passionate, and compact defense.

Nevertheless, in my opinion, the prediction of goals for both teams between Barcelona and Getafe has a lot of potential. On the one hand, because Merkur Bets is offering an impressive 2.15 at the top, which immediately catches the eye in this betting market. On the other hand, given that the Catalans, with their courageous approach and high back line, are always prone to conceding goals.

In particular, the fact that the home side only returned from England on Friday and are already struggling with a few personnel problems prompts me to check the odds between Barcelona and Getafe to see if the visitors will avoid defeat if they lose!

Incidentally, like Barca’s home game last week, the match will once again be played at the 6,000-capacity Estadi Johann Cruyff on the Spanish giants’ training ground. Ironically, this is where the Blue and Reds often seem to be in a real scoring mood. In addition to the aforementioned 6-0 win against the Bats, Flick’s team also won their final warm-up game before the start of the league season against Como 5-0.

This makes the 1.53 odds at Interwetten for over 2.5 goals all the more interesting. Although Getafe has kept a clean sheet twice in the first four matchdays, three goals in 90 minutes should definitely be within the realm of possibility.

Barcelona – Getafe Head-to-head comparison / H2H record

A direct comparison suggests that the “Azulones” are a (minor) bogey team for FC Barcelona. In fact, the Blaugrana have won only three of their last seven direct encounters with their upcoming opponents. Last season, Getafe fought to a 1-1 draw at home and lost only 1-0 away to the eventual champions. In fact, only one of the last seven encounters would have paid off if you had bet on over 2.5 goals. Six times during this period, the dark blues from the Madrid suburbs failed to score.

Accordingly, Sunday’s Barcelona vs. Getafe betting odds are undoubtedly influenced by the H2h, but the omens are completely different this time. It is therefore quite possible that FCB will win at home against Getafe for the eighth time in a row in La Liga – but this time not without conceding a goal!

Barcelona – Getafe Tip

FC Barcelona have ten points after four matchdays. However, the Catalans’ season has not been completely flawless so far. Against newly promoted Levante, for example, the star ensemble from the metropolis was trailing 0-2 at halftime and struggled to a 3-2 victory. Against Rayo Vallecano, they only managed a 1-1 draw. Nothing has changed in Hansi Flick’s offensive and at times almost naive approach, so conceding goals is always part of the standard repertoire. This is especially true when the offense is not as dominant as it is with a fit Lamine Yamal in the starting lineup.

Although the visitors have failed to score in six of their last seven direct encounters with FCB, they are currently brimming with confidence after three wins in four games. I definitely think they are capable of scoring at least one goal at the home side’s training stadium. The 2.15 odds for both teams to score are therefore very interesting. My stake is four out of a possible ten fictitious units.
