Can BVB stop Bayern’s winning streak?

FC Bayern and Borussia Dortmund have rarely met on equal footing (in terms of the table) in recent years. Most of the time, it was the Black and Yellows who couldn’t keep up with the pace of the Munich team, especially later in the season. However, the 138th meeting between these two clubs in the national top flight on Saturday evening promises a different starting position and significantly more excitement. After all, the still-flawless leaders are facing the second-placed team, who are also still undefeated! For betting providers with a German license, the most promising Bayern BVB tip is nevertheless obvious.

The fact that this German classic is indeed a duel of superlatives this time around is also due to the impressive runs of both teams. FCB has not lost any of its last 15 league matches. Opponents Dortmund are unbeaten in 14 consecutive Bundesliga games. No other club in Europe’s top five leagues can look back on such long winning streaks!

Nevertheless, there is much to suggest that the home team will come out on top in the match between Bayern and Dortmund. Kompany’s team has been impressive across the board so far, celebrating victories in all competitions and boasting by far the best offense in the league. If Kane, Diaz, and Co. secure their seventh three-point win in the seventh matchday of the Bundesliga, their lead over their closest rivals could grow to seven points at best.

Various betting providers are offering increased odds just in time for the top match between Bayern and Dortmund on the Isar.

Bayern vs. Dortmund AI prediction

When it comes to the expected number of goals, my subjective opinion differs from the assessment of artificial intelligence. We are forcing the AI prediction for the game between Bayern and Dortmund towards under 3.5 goals. However, the “machine” has no major doubts about a victory for the favorites from Munich, which is impressively underlined by the almost 65% probability of a win in favor of the current champions.

Bayern – Statistics & current form

For the first time since the 2015/16 season, FC Bayern has started a Bundesliga season with six wins in the first six matchdays. Better still, across all competitions, Munich has even won ten out of ten games. If the prediction of three points for the hosts also pays off on Saturday evening between Bayern and Dortmund, the southern Germans would equal the German record of eleven competitive wins in a row at the start of the season. This record is currently held by BVB – in 2015/16 under Thomas Tuchel.

Can Bayern decide the top match in the first 45 minutes?

Speaking of Thomas Tuchel: The former Bayern coach did his old employer a favor and did not call on Harry Kane’s services in the English national team’s friendly against Wales. The captain of the Three Lions was able to rest, celebrated his comeback a few days later in the World Cup qualifier against Estonia with a brace, and is of course a potential goalscorer again in Saturday’s top match.

A total of eleven Bundesliga goals and six consecutive competitive games with at least one goal prove Kane’s frightening consistency. Merkur Bets has come up with a special promotion for this.

In general, the powerful offense is currently the biggest asset that the Bundesliga leaders can throw into the ring. They scored 25 goals in the first six matchdays, averaging more than four goals per game. The record champions scored three or more goals seven times in a row in the top flight. Fourteen of those 25 goals were scored in the first half. Kompany’s team led at halftime in all six league games, five times by at least two goals. That’s exactly why the Asian handicap -1 (1st half) in favor of the men from Säbener Straße is in my top tip table.

Dortmund – Statistics & current form

With 14 points from six games, Borussia Dortmund is currently Bayern’s toughest competitor in the race for the German championship. Including two Champions League matches and the completed task in the DFB Cup against third-division RW Essen, the Black and Yellows have also recorded nine unbeaten competitive games in the still young season.

Niko Kovac, who was once under contract with Munich as a coach and player, has seamlessly continued the good impressions from last season with his team. Under Sahin’s successor, BVB has won 65% of all Bundesliga games and, with Kovac on the bench, has a strong average of 2.1 points – the highest of any Dortmund coach in Bundesliga history.

BVB needs a flawless defensive performance and a lot of relief

Borussia has stepped up its game, especially defensively. The four goals conceded are the second-best record in the league. Gregor Kobel has kept a clean sheet four times in league play for the Westphalia club. Nevertheless, I am skeptical when it comes to betting on the BVB defense withstanding the constant pressure of the FCB’s star offense on Saturday evening.

In addition to a focused performance against the ball, there will inevitably be moments of transition to provide relief. Above all, the two lightning-fast wingers Maxi Beier and Karim Adeyemi will be called upon to run deep behind Munich’s high defensive line. It will also be important not to concede an early goal, so as not to have to throw the match plan out the window immediately. However, because the subjunctive predominates in the last few lines, I am more inclined to check the odds for a victory for the favorites from southern Germany ahead of the Bayern vs. BVB match! Even a single point for the Black and Yellows at the Allianz Arena would be considered a huge success.

Bayern – Dortmund Head-to-head comparison / H2H record

Bayern have failed to win against Borussia Dortmund in their last three encounters (0-2-1). Among other things, there was a 2-2 draw at the Allianz Arena in April 2025. A small but significant difference: Munich could already consider themselves certain champions at that point, while BVB had to fight for every point in their race to catch up. Now the situation is different, as Kompany’s team wants to flex their muscles, bring their closest rivals to their knees, and send a message to the competition!

It cannot be ruled out that the German Clásico will take a similar course to so many games over the past decade. Before the three aforementioned duels in 2024 and 2025, Bayern celebrated ten wins from their last eleven Bundesliga encounters. Nine times, the men from the Isar scored three (!) or more goals of their own. In ten of the eleven games mentioned, a bet on over 3.5 goals would have paid off. I expect at least four goals on Saturday.

Bayern – Dortmund Tip

Ahead of the eagerly awaited Bundesliga top match between FC Bayern and Borussia Dortmund, Munich has once again done FCB things… Certainly with certain ulterior motives, the record champions recently joined the discussion about the future of BVB defender Nico Schlotterbeck.

However, with regard to Saturday evening, this is probably only a side note. Instead, the focus is on the sporting aspect, with the two best German soccer clubs currently facing each other in a direct duel. According to the Bayern vs. Dortmund betting odds, it is still likely to be a one-sided affair in favor of the record champions and current Bundesliga leaders.

I basically agree with this assessment and would argue primarily that Kompany’s team has had an outstanding season so far, winning all ten competitive games across all competitions, scoring 25 goals in the Bundesliga and rarely losing to Borussia in the past decade.

Due to the home advantage and the form of Kane, Diaz, and Co., I am even inclined to bet on the double result HT1/FT1 between Bayern and BVB. FCB has led at halftime in all six Bundesliga games, has not conceded a single goal before the break (14:0), and has thus regularly laid the foundation for success in the first 45 minutes. If they get off to another good start, Niko Kovac and his Dortmund team are in danger of suffering another defeat after 14 unbeaten Bundesliga games. At NEO.bet, the bet comes with an impressive 1.88, which I’m playing with five fictitious units.
