Will Leverkusen’s away streak end at the Dominator?

When Bayer 04 Leverkusen last lost an away game in the Bundesliga in May 2023, Thomas Tuchel was still on the FC Bayern bench, Olaf Scholz was Germany’s chancellor, and a liter of diesel cost just under €1.70. Almost two and a half years later, a lot has changed. In addition, the team’s unbeaten streak of 37 away games is about to face its toughest test yet.

The Werkself are guests at Munich’s Allianz Arena, home to the team that has played 14 competitive games this season and won every single one.

Although the Rhinelanders are also in good form and have not lost a single game in six league matches under their new coach Kasper Hjulmand (5-1-0), the bar seems to be set too high for them this season. FCB is plowing from success to success, celebrating one glorious victory after another, and only knows the feeling of losing points or even a defeat from stories.

Despite the fact that Bayer has remained unbeaten in its last five consecutive games in the German top flight against the star ensemble from Säbener Straße, it is absolutely understandable and comprehensible to predict that Bayern will take all three points against Leverkusen.

Due to their performances during the week, the regular FCB win rate has actually fallen once again. After initial difficulties away from home in the DFB Cup at 1. FC Köln (4-1), Munich did not show any weakness, while Bayer had to go into extra time in Paderborn with a man advantage, were even behind at one point, and ultimately secured their place in the round of 16 thanks to late goals.

However, Grimaldo and Co. have not provided any compelling arguments for a potential surprise coup on Saturday evening in the top match of the 9th matchday in the Bundesliga. If something tangible were to come out of the north of Munich, this would result in a 4.45 for the double chance X2 at Betano.

Bayern vs. Leverkusen Prediction AI

For artificial intelligence, the question of who will win this match is also not really an issue. If you compare the xG values of 2.62 and 0.94 predicted by the Wettbasis supercomputer, this results in a difference of 1.68 goals, which in turn means that you could confidently bet on the Bayern vs. Leverkusen AI prediction on the handicap (-1.5) in favor of the home team. Alternatively, with a total of 3.56 xG, depending on your risk appetite, you could also consider betting on under 3.5, 3.75, 4.00, 4.25, or 4.5.

Bayern – Statistics & current form

Vincent Kompany is following in the footsteps of Pep Guardiola! In fact, after 42 Bundesliga games, the young Belgian head coach has exactly the same points average (2.52) as the Catalan world-class coach had in 102 league games. However, what Pep did not achieve during his tenure on the Isar was 14 (!) consecutive competitive wins at the start of a new season.

Eight wins from eight Bundesliga matches with a goal difference of +26 also set a new historic record, as do the 30 goals scored. The defending champions last lost a game in the German top flight eight months ago. Ten Bundesliga wins in a row and 17 consecutive games without defeat underline the record champions’ fearsome dominance.

Bayern’s dominance in detail

Given these inhuman statistics, it would be unthinkable to consider betting on the visitors to win points ahead of Bayern’s top match against Leverkusen. Instead, the main question is how big FCB’s win will be this time. Ten of the 14 wins mentioned above came with a margin of at least two goals, and in nine cases, Munich had three or more goals than their opponents after 90 minutes.

In addition, the double result HT1/FT1 is also worth considering. In seven of eight league games, FCB was ahead at halftime, usually by at least two goals. Kompany’s team is also the only team in Europe’s top five leagues that has never had to chase a deficit. The goal difference of 15:0 in the first halves also speaks volumes. I therefore assume that Kane, Diaz, Olise, and Co. will once again lay the foundation for victory in the first 45 minutes.

Leverkusen – Statistics & current form

It is fair to say that the change of coach at Bayer 04 Leverkusen has certainly paid off. Under ten Hag’s successor Kasper Hjulmand, the Werkself celebrated five wins from their first six league games (one draw), picking up 16 out of a possible 18 points. After a painful opening defeat at home to TSG Hoffenheim, the 2024 champions remained unbeaten in seven consecutive Bundesliga games, climbing to fifth place in the table.

Is Leverkusen still out of its depth against good opponents?

Despite the good results at the national level, however, it must also be taken into account when looking at the Bayern vs. Leverkusen prediction that the newly formed team from the pharmaceutical city lacks the necessary stability here and there. The best examples of this are the three Champions League games so far (0-2-1), especially the 2-7 defeat against Paris St. Germain, as well as the near elimination from the DFB Cup on Wednesday evening.

Even with a man advantage, the Rhinelanders failed to hold on to their lead in Paderborn. The second division team equalized shortly before the end of regular time and even took the lead in extra time despite being a man down. Leverkusen turned the game around anyway, proving at least that they have morale. Nevertheless, the 120 minutes probably took more out of them than those in charge would have liked beforehand.

Considering that they have conceded twelve goals in their last four competitive games and the subjective assumption that Hjulmand’s team will not rely exclusively on a compact defensive block in defensive pressing in Munich this weekend, another fiasco looms against a qualitatively stronger team. I don’t see the Werkself as being as strong as their recent Bundesliga results suggest!

Bayern – Leverkusen Head-to-head comparison / H2H record

FC Bayern won their last two competitive games against Bayer 04 Leverkusen in March 2025. Both victories came in the Champions League playoffs. In the Bundesliga, however, the record champions have been waiting for three points against the Werkself for five games now. FCB have three wins and two defeats against the Werkself, who were still coached by Xabi Alonso at the time. Incidentally, the last team to remain undefeated against the industry leaders six times in a row was Borussia Dortmund from 2010 to 2013.

It is also interesting to note that in the last ten encounters, no more than four goals were scored, and in most cases no more than three. In four of the last five duels, a bet on under 2.5 would have paid off. I expect a little more spectacle on Saturday evening, but under 4.5 goals in the Betano app at attractive Bayern vs. Leverkusen odds of 1.55 is definitely an interesting betting option.

Bayern – Leverkusen Tip

This weekend’s Saturday night Bundesliga match will be contested by two clubs in extremely good form. On the one hand, there is Bayer, who, as mentioned, have won all 14 competitive games so far this season, were already ahead at half-time in 13 of those 14 games, and have a goal difference of 30:4 in the Bundesliga. On the other side is Werkself, who have recorded 16 out of 18 points in league play under Hjulmand and have not left the field as losers seven times in a row.

However, because the Rhinelanders have primarily faced opponents who are below them in the standings or who are far from having the same ambitions, I would question the actual performance of the 2024 double winners. This is especially true given that they recently conceded seven goals against PSG, two against Paderborn, and three against Mainz, who are in poor form.

I therefore tend once again towards a start-to-finish victory for Harry Kane and Co. My Bayern vs. Leverkusen tip is therefore for a double result HT1/FT1 at 1.60 with Betano. I’m betting six units.
