After the Champions League kicked off last week, the Europa League is set to get underway in the next few days. We take a look at the Spanish-English duel between Betis Sevilla and Nottingham, with a bet on the hosts rewarded with odds of 2.20 in the Bet365 mobile app. At the moment, our two protagonists are considered the biggest favorites to win the tournament, alongside Aston Villa and AS Roma. With a total of eight match days during the league phase, our game is not decisive, but it does give some indication of how the two teams are to be assessed.
The Andalusians have gotten off to a good start and are in a respectable sixth place in the table after the fifth match day of La Liga. They have suffered only one defeat so far and have nine points to their credit. The Royals from Madrid are at the top of the table, already six points ahead of Betis. The Green and Whites are well on their way to establishing themselves in the top third of the table this season, after finishing sixth last year.
The “Garibaldi Reds” were the surprise team of last season, finishing seventh in the table, but this year things are not going so well for head coach Ange Postecoglou’s team. He took over from his predecessor Nuno Espirito Santo after the third matchday.
But even under his leadership, the points tally is not improving. Five points have been collected from the five games played, which is currently only enough for 15th place.
Betis Sevilla – Nottingham Head-to-head record / H2H record
The two teams have only met once before. They faced each other in a friendly match in 2018, with Real Betis winning 1-0. However, this friendly match is not particularly useful for our analysis.

Betis Sevilla – Nottingham Tip
The Green and Whites have had a solid season so far. They have won two games and drawn three, with only one defeat in their first six games. The offense has been in a scoring mood, netting nine times. This is the fourth-best record in the league. Only the three top teams, Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Villarreal, have scored more often. The defense, on the other hand, has not performed as well, conceding seven goals. Eight teams have conceded more goals. The 1.5 goals scored per game correspond to the xG value of 1.52. The hosts are making the most of their chances as they come.
At Nottingham, on the other hand, things are currently in disarray. They have only found the back of the net five times, which is an average of one goal per game. On the other hand, the defense has conceded almost two goals per game. This makes it difficult to be successful, of course. As a result, they have only won one of their five games. They also suffered an early exit from the EFL Cup. Against second division Swansea, the Red and Whites squandered a 2-0 halftime lead.
After a 29-year absence, the Reds are back on the European stage. However, their current poor form makes us doubt that they will make a successful comeback. The Green and Whites, on the other hand, have won two of their three home games this season and lost only one of their last eighteen home games in the group stage of a European competition.
Head coach Manuel Pellegrini’s team in particular has also been impressive in attack so far. We expect Cucho Hernandez’s strike force to give us something to cheer about on Wednesday, so betting on at least three goals between Betis Sevilla and Nottingham, at odds of 1.83 with the best bookmakers, is a promising alternative.
