Will Bologna knock on the door at the top?

It has been over two months since FC Bologna lost a competitive match. Since their narrow 0-1 defeat at Aston Villa in the Europa League group stage at the end of September, the Red and Blues have remained unbeaten in twelve consecutive matches across all competitions. The Greyhounds have won their last three games in a row.

During the week, they celebrated a commanding 4-1 victory at international level against RB Salzburg. Confidence is sky high, especially as a place in the top four of Serie A beckons on Monday evening. For that to happen, coach Vincenzo Italiano’s team will need to come out on top in the match between Bologna and Cremonese at the end of the matchday.

The chances of this happening are of course very good, because while the home side’s form has been on the up for weeks, the newly promoted team from Cremona is currently going through its first difficult phase in Italy’s top flight. “Le Tigri” has lost all of its last three league games. It has managed just one win in its last ten matches. The Gray-Reds collected nine of their 14 points in the first five matchdays.

Although the twelfth-placed team has been good for surprising results at times this season and has mostly held its own against the top teams in particular, my Bologna vs. Cremonese prediction is quite clearly in favor of the hosts. The extremely stable defense of the country’s seventh-largest city further supports my assumption!

It should be noted that only Como has conceded fewer goals than last year’s ninth-placed team in the twelve match days so far. Of the eight goals conceded in total, only one came in the five home games in league competition. 13 out of a possible 15 points in front of their own fans also underline the relentless home strength of the Red and Blues, who currently have Riccardo Orsolini (five goals, one assist) as their top scorer.

In view of these outstanding statistics and the fact that Italiano’s team has kept a clean sheet in four of its last six games, I am also checking the Bologna vs. Cremonese odds to see if the promoted team will remain without a goal. The Interwetten app offers odds of 1.80 for this. However, my favorite tip is for a home win with a maximum of four goals in the game.

Bologna – Cremonese Head-to-head comparison / H2H record

The head-to-head record is only of limited relevance for the upcoming match. Even the two most recent direct duels from 2023 have little influence on the betting odds ahead of the Bologna vs. Cremonese game. Bologna won in Cremona but had to settle for a 1-1 draw at home. Also interesting: Three of the four encounters this millennium have ended in a draw. Another draw would definitely be a very good result for Davide Nicola’s men, although the six goals conceded in the last three matches do not necessarily suggest that “La Cremo” can pull off a surprise coup away from home.

Bologna – Cremonese Tip

As in the penultimate season, when Bologna ultimately qualified for the UEFA Champions League, the Red and Blues are once again set to shake up the top of the Italian Serie A table in 2025/26. After initial difficulties, the individually very strong team from Emilia-Romagna has now more than recovered. Twelve unbeaten competitive games in a row, seven wins from the last ten matches and impressive defensive statistics are all reasons why the Italian team is the deserved favorite in Monday evening’s home game against Cremonese.

The promoted team has lost some of its momentum after three defeats and has recently revealed defensive weaknesses in particular. I therefore recommend combining a bet on a home win with under 4.5 goals in the Bologna vs. Cremonese match.
