Will the Villans struggle offensively again?

Just three shots on goal and an expected goals value of 0.20 – both figures were the lowest in the league on the first day of the Premier League season, when Aston Villa were held to a goalless draw at home by Newcastle United. The Villans need to rediscover their scoring touch as soon as possible, but they now travel to the stadium that saw the most goals (75) in the top flight of English football in 2024/25. The top bookmakers are therefore favoring an away win for the Lions in Brentford vs. Aston Villa.

The bookmakers are also expecting a high-scoring encounter, which, like the favouritism of the visitors from Birmingham, is an assessment that we can only partially share. After all, Villa have been waiting for a goal for two Premier League games in a row and have conceded three red cards in their last four league games, which has repeatedly led to personnel changes at the expense of the offense.

However, in order not to rule out a possible away win at the Bees, we recommend betting on the Lions scoring a maximum of one goal on the Thames. After all, the Villans celebrated a 1-0 win at Brentford FC in their last away game in London.

With a maximum of one away goal, it could also be a rather low-scoring match overall. Although there were eight games at the Gtech Community Stadium in 2024/25 in which Brentford scored and conceded at least two goals, the last home game against the Villans ended in a 0-1 defeat. Bets on a maximum of two goals being scored in west London are therefore also popular.

Brentford – Aston Villa Head-to-head record / H2H record

Head to head: 4 – 8 – 10

There have only been 22 meetings between the two teams so far, with Aston Villa leading the head-to-head record very clearly with ten wins. The Lions are currently unbeaten in six league games against the Bees (four wins, two draws) and have scored in all eight Premier League encounters with Brentford FC. The Villans have also won their last two league away games at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Brentford – Aston Villa Tip

Looking at the clear head-to-head comparison, the prediction for Brentford against Aston Villa could well lean towards the visitors, who, however, put in a lackluster performance on the first matchday. With only three shots and an expected goals value of 0.20, the Birmingham club was bottom of the Premier League in both categories.

The fact that the Villans have scored in all eight Premier League games against the Bees is therefore not entirely convincing, especially as the Birmingham club has been waiting for another goal for two Premier League games and has repeatedly made life difficult for itself with indiscipline (three red cards in the last four league games).

We cannot recommend a bet on the visitors in the 1X2 system or with any match combos that work with the double chance X2. However, as there are not enough indications for a home win for the Bees, we are not ruling anything out and are instead betting that the Villans will score a maximum of one goal at the Gtech Community Stadium, regardless of the outcome of the match. This also covers a 1-0 away win, which the Lions recorded in their last away game at the Bees.
