Will the Reds continue to lose ground in the league?

There was a sigh of relief at Liverpool FC on Wednesday evening. After four consecutive defeats, the Reds vented their pent-up frustration in their UEFA Champions League away game in Frankfurt, ultimately winning 5-1 in a well-deserved victory. The much-maligned Florian Wirtz finally managed to make his mark, ending his goal drought with two assists.

For the reigning English champions, the task on Saturday evening is to take the next step out of the crisis and not lose touch with the top of the Premier League table. To that end, the tip for the LFC three points is firmly planned between Brentford and Liverpool.

However, the task at Brentford Community Stadium will definitely not be a walk in the park, as the “Bees” from West London are going into this match with plenty of confidence. On Monday, Thomas Frank’s successor Keith Andrews’ men won 2-0 at West Ham United, securing their second victory in their last three PL games.

The capital club is currently ranked 13th in the interim standings, although only the teams in the bottom five have conceded more goals than the team led by German international Kevin Schade. However, he is currently overshadowed by Igor Thiago, who has already scored five goals this season and is, of course, a potential goalscorer this weekend.

Alternatively, odds of up to 1.73 are being offered for an away win in the match between Brentford and Liverpool. These are also quite appealing, especially since the home team has not won two consecutive league games since April/May of this year. Secondly, the Andrews XI’s bold style of play, reflected in 23 goals scored in eight PL games involving Brentford, could play into the hands of the Reds’ high-speed offense.

Nevertheless, in conclusion, various statistics warrant a word of caution. The Reds have lost their last four away games in the Premier League against London clubs. In addition, the defending champions have lost five of their last eight away games in the English top flight. For the first time in over four years, they are now facing the prospect of four consecutive defeats.

Brentford – Liverpool Head-to-head record

At the beginning of their Premier League rivalry, Brentford proved to be a formidable opponent, losing only one of their first three encounters with LFC, but in recent games, the pendulum has swung exclusively in favor of the men from Anfield. Liverpool have won five times in a row.

Last season, Arne Slot’s team won both home and away games 2-0. In a total of eight Premier League matches, LFC have never failed to score against Brentford. It is very unlikely that this will change on Saturday.

Brentford – Liverpool Tip

In order to keep pace with direct rivals Arsenal and Manchester City, an away win for Liverpool FC at Brentford FC in West London is non-negotiable. The Reds were able to boost their confidence with a 5-1 win in Frankfurt during the week, finally ending their four-game losing streak.

In the league, however, the defending champions have been anything but flawless on the road recently. This is exactly where the opportunity lies for the Bees, who have won two of their last three games and only lost narrowly at home to Manchester City 0-1 during that period.

Nevertheless, I am optimistic that the higher individual quality will prevail. After all, the Reds have won the last five head-to-head matches and are likely to benefit from the capital club’s vulnerable defense on Saturday evening.

I am therefore foregoing any extras in my recommended bet and instead advocating a tip on the isolated away win between Brentford and Liverpool.
