Will both sides score?

The home side faces a particularly tough challenge in the form of the Gunners. The Londoners are the only team to have not dropped a point after five rounds of Champions League action! Read our big preview of the clash in Belgium to find out which Bruges vs. Arsenal tip could be worthwhile.

Arsenal’s strong performance so far is evident in the fact that only four English teams in the history of the European Cup have won their first six games of a season – Manchester United achieved this feat in the 1965/66 season, as did Manchester City in the 2023/24 season. However, the visitors still need one more win to join this particularly elite group of teams.

Admittedly, they are once again the clear favorites going into the match. Their defense in particular is a real bulwark: they have conceded only one goal in their five league games in the Champions League! However, the Bruges vs. Arsenal prediction now points to goals at both ends.

The Flemish side are very accurate in front of goal at home. In their two Champions League games in front of their own fans so far, FCB have scored four goals against Monaco and even Barcelona conceded three goals. With these results, Bruges is on historic ground: in the history of the European Cup, only Anderlecht, as the Belgian representative between December 1967 and September 1972, has scored three or more goals in three home games!

Bruges vs. Arsenal prediction AI

AI has also taken a close look at the match in Flanders and found value in the odds for a maximum of three goals. This assessment is based on the fact that it estimates the expected goals value for the match at Jan Breydel Stadium at 2.98 goals.

The AI Bruges vs. Arsenal prediction therefore includes odds of less than 3.5 goals.

Bruges – Statistics & current form

The Flemish team is particularly strong offensively before the break. Six of the eight goals scored by coach Nicky Hayen’s team in the Champions League came before the break.

Against this backdrop, the Bruges vs. Arsenal odds for another goal from the Belgian runners-up before the break are also recommended.

While the Black and Blues’ offense is competitive, the same cannot be said for their defense. In fact, Bruges has conceded 24 goals in 11 CL games in 2025! Only Barcelona (27 in 13 games) has conceded more. In addition, the Belgian runners-up have allowed the hosts the most shots on goal (73) and the most expected goals against (23.5) of any team.

Forbs feels particularly at home in the Champions League

In their own offense, the hosts will once again rely primarily on Carlos Forbs. The Portuguese player is playing in the Champions League for the first time in his career this season and seems to be enjoying the competition: including his appearances in the Champions League qualifiers before the league phase, Forbs has played nine games and scored an impressive three goals and two assists.

This is impressive and surprising for a debut season in Europe’s top flight, especially since he had failed to make an impact at his previous clubs in Amsterdam and Wolverhampton. On top of that, he is doing particularly well at his home ground, the Jan Breydel Stadium: he scored all four of his goals and assists during the league phase in front of his own fans!

Arsenal – Statistics & current form

Things are also going well in the Premier League: after 15 matchdays, coach Mikel Arteta’s team is also in first place, and the aforementioned very stable defense is no less evident in the PL, as Arsenal has also conceded the fewest goals (9) in the national league.

In the Champions League, Arsenal has also conceded only 2.59 expected goals from their opponents – fewer than any other team. The Londoners’ defensive solidity can also be seen in the fact that they have conceded only nine shots on goal and five big chances for their opponents in this CL season – the best figures in the competition!

Arsenal likes to travel

Furthermore, the British runners-up are strong away from home: they have won six of their last seven away games in the Champions League, including both in the current season without conceding a goal (2-0 against Athletic Bilbao and 3-0 against Slavia Prague). However, the Gunners have only once before won their first three away games in a single European competition (2005/06).

Gabriel Martinelli is also in excellent form. The attacking player has scored in all four of his Champions League games for Arsenal this season! No Gunners player has ever scored in five consecutive CL games, while only two players have scored in more consecutive games in major European competitions: Ian Wright in the 1994/95 European Cup Winners’ Cup (8) and Thierry Henry in the 1999/00 UEFA Cup (6).

Will Martinelli strike again?

Given Martinelli’s current scoring form, the betting odds on the Brazilian’s next goal in the clash between Bruges and Arsenal are also worth considering.

In contrast to their upcoming opponents, the players from the Emirates Stadium also particularly enjoy scoring in the second half: eleven of their 14 goals in this year’s Champions League have been scored after the break!

Bruges – Arsenal Head-to-head record / H2H record

Bruges has already played against twelve different English teams in European competitions, but this is the first time the Flemish side will face Arsenal. The Belgian team has also won only one of its last 18 games against English opponents (1-3-14). Their only success in this period came in last year’s Champions League, when they beat Aston Villa 1-0 in front of their own fans.

Arsenal’s last defeat against a Belgian side came in October 1981, when they lost 1-0 to KFC Winterslag in the UEFA Cup. Since then, Arsenal has been unbeaten in its last nine games of this kind (7-2-0), winning three and drawing one in four away games. The odds also clearly point to a win for the visitors in the upcoming match between Bruges and Arsenal.

Bruges – Arsenal Tip

Arsenal have won their last nine games in the group and league stages of the Champions League. The Londoners have scored 27 goals and conceded only three.

The only English club to have won ten group games in a row is Liverpool between September 2022 and January 2025 (12). The visitors’ formidable form can be summed up very well with this extraordinary series, and we also see them as favorites to win against FCB.

However, we expect at least one goal for the British side this time, who have kept a clean sheet in four of their five group games in the current edition of the Champions League. Bruges are very strong offensively in front of their own fans.

Other top European teams such as Monaco and FC Barcelona have already experienced this this season, conceding three or more goals. In light of this, we are predicting a goal for both sides in the match between Bruges and Arsenal.
