Will the Giallorossi stay ahead?

AS Roma may have lost two of their last four Serie A games 0-1, which was particularly frustrating because they were up against direct rivals AC Milan and Napoli in the battle for the 2026 Serie A championship, but the Giallorossi are still only one point behind first place ahead of the 14th matchday of Italy’s top flight.

The first Scudetto in 25 years therefore remains a possibility. However, if the tip for an away win for the Wolves against Cagliari does not come true, it would be a major setback for the capital club.

However, there is little to suggest that the Sardinians will be able to trouble their guests from the Eternal City. Cagliari Calcio has won only two of its 13 Serie A games in 2025/26, is currently winless in nine league games (four draws, five losses) and has also been waiting for another win against the Giallorossi for six games (one draw, five losses). Although they held Napoli to a 1-1 draw in the Coppa Italia during the week, before the Rossoblu were knocked out of the competition by the reigning champions in an epic penalty shootout (8-9), we do not think Fabio Pisacane’s side have any significant chance of winning points in the Caglari vs. AS Roma prediction. We therefore recommend tip 2.

Another factor in favor of an away win for the capital club is the fact that AS Roma comfortably lead the Serie A away table with 15 out of a possible 18 points. No other team has conceded fewer goals away from home than the Giallorossi (only three), who also have the most stable defense in Italy’s top flight, conceding only seven goals in 13 Serie A games.

A slightly less risky betting option is therefore the match combo on double chance X2 with under 3.5 goals, which would also cover a 0-0 draw, which was the score at the final whistle in the Wolves’ last away game in Sardinia.

Cagliari – AS Roma Head-to-head record

Head to head: 24 – 29 – 46

A total of 99 matches have been played between the two teams so far, with Roma leading the head-to-head record very clearly with 46 wins. The Giallorossi are currently unbeaten in six games against Cagliari Calcio (five wins, one draw) and have kept three consecutive clean sheets. However, in their last away game in Sardinia, the Wolves could not manage more than a goalless draw against the Rossoblu.

Cagliari – AS Roma Tip

There is little to no reason to believe that the Giallorossi will stumble in Sardinia of all places. Even the best bookmakers are clearly favoring the capital club in the betting odds for Cagliari vs. AS Roma, who have kept three consecutive clean sheets against the Rossoblu and once again have a very good chance of keeping a clean sheet at the Unipol Domus.

With only 13 goals from 13 Serie A games, the Sardinians have repeatedly struggled in attack. The fact that striker Andrea Belotti will be out for several months with a cruciate ligament rupture makes the task even more challenging for the home side.

Admittedly, the Giallorossi’s very stable defense has sometimes come at the expense of offensive power, which is why bets on under goals are very interesting. However, in our opinion, the best value in Cagliari vs. AS Roma is a bet on an away win for Gian Piero Gasperini’s team.
