Will the Blancos falter in Galicia too?
Real Madrid just can’t seem to settle down. After their disappointing exit from the Copa del Rey and missing out on the top 8 in the Champions League group stage, they took the playoff duel with Benfica Lisbon seriously and won.
At the same time, however, they suffered two consecutive defeats in La Liga against Osasuna (1-2) and Getafe (0-1), which not only cost them their lead in the table but also left them trailing FC Barcelona by four points. If Real Madrid’s victory is not predicted in the match against Celta Vigo, it would be another bitter setback for the record champions.
However, the task for the Merengues in Galicia will not be easy, especially as the Celestes (meaning “sky blues”) are extremely solid defensively. Celta Vigo are sixth in the table because they have conceded only 28 goals in 26 league games.
Considering that Real Madrid have scored only one goal in their last two La Liga games, we think the best value is in betting that the Blancos will score a maximum of one goal away at the Estadio Balaidos. Whether this will be enough for the much-needed away win is certainly questionable, especially as the Celticos also have a lot of clinical finishing power in attack with Borja Iglesias and super-sub Iago Aspas.
Remarkably, the Celestes already took the Blancos by surprise in the first leg, when a 2-0 home defeat for Madrid in December was certainly one of those games that prompted the club bosses to relieve Xabi Alonso of his duties. Now, Alvaro Arbeloa, who has recently come under criticism, cannot afford a defeat against the Galicians, which adds to the pressure. Those who are not afraid to take risks can also consider the double chance 1X at Betano at odds of 1.75.
Celta Vigo – Real Madrid Head-to-head record
Head to head: 35 – 21 – 82
A total of 138 matches have been played between the two teams so far, with Real Madrid leading the head-to-head record very clearly with 82 wins. The Blancos have also won eleven of their last twelve competitive games against Celta Vigo.
The only exception, however, was the first leg of the 2025/26 season, when the Celestes recorded a 2-0 away win at the Bernabeu. For the first time since the 1998/99 season, the Galicians could now pick up a full six points against Los Blancos in a single season.

Celta Vigo – Real Madrid prediction
On paper, the prediction for Celta Vigo vs. Real Madrid should actually favor the record champions, who have won eleven of their last twelve competitive games against the Galicians (one defeat).
However, while the Celestes are in good form and have consolidated sixth place with two wins in a row, the Blancos are on the verge of throwing away the championship after two consecutive defeats. So if the Celticos ever had a good chance of securing a home win against the Royals, it is certainly now, especially as the first leg went 2-0 to Claudio Giraldez’s side, who has just led his team to the Europa League round of 16.
Nevertheless, we would not want to categorically rule out a minimalist 1-0 victory for the Merengues. However, given the many absences and recent results, it seems rather unlikely that the Madrilenians will set off a goal fest at the Estadio Balaidos. The Celticos also defend well and have conceded only 28 goals in 26 La Liga games. Against this backdrop, regardless of the outcome of the match, we recommend betting on the Royals scoring a maximum of one goal away in Galicia.
