A soccer miracle at Stamford Bridge?
The home team has been very busy in recent weeks. In addition to the Premier League, they also have matches in the FA Cup and the Champions League on their schedule. In the latter competition, the second leg of the Round of 16 between Chelsea and PSG is now set to take place, and Wettbasis has a prediction ready.
The hosts suffered a 2-5 defeat in the first leg on the Seine, which is why they need a minor football miracle to advance to the next round. One weakness for the two-time Champions League winners in recent weeks has been their fundamentally porous defense.
Looking back at their last 13 competitive matches, the Londoners have recorded just one clean sheet—in the FA Cup match against second-division side Hull. At the same time, the British side’s offense has been reliable, which is why there’s no shortage of goals in CFC matches.
Given the nature of the match and the result from the first leg, we can also expect an open contest at Stamford Bridge, which is why we once again don’t anticipate a shortage of goals. Against this backdrop, we’re predicting both teams to score and more than two goals in the match between Chelsea and PSG.

Chelsea – Statistics & Current Form
For the English teams, last week’s first-leg matches were an uncharacteristic humiliation. Premier League clubs recorded four losses and just two draws. For clubs from the “best league in the world,” this is naturally sobering, and CFC contributed to this disastrous haul with its heavy defeat in Paris.
The aforementioned defensive weakness of the six-time British champions is particularly evident in the Champions League during the first halves. In fact, the home teams conceded seven of their ten goals before halftime during the group stage.
The opponents from Paris also failed to impress defensively in the first halves during this phase of the competition. In fact, PSG exhibits a similar pattern, as the French side also conceded the majority (9) of their 15 goals before halftime. On top of that, both teams conceded at least one goal before the halftime whistle in the first leg.
Will there be more than one goal before halftime between Chelsea and PSG again?
Given that both defenses struggle to get into the game early, the odds for more than one goal in the first half are equally favorable in the clash between Chelsea and PSG.
Another factor supporting this prediction is that the offenses of PSG and Chelsea, in turn, rarely have any initial difficulties. This is clearly evident from the fact that the visitors have scored 11 times and the home side 10 times before halftime in their eight league matches!
Coach Liam Rosenior’s team will also be counting on home-field advantage against the visitors from the Seine: In the previous competition phase, last season’s fourth-place Premier League finishers won all four home games and averaged a whopping 2.5 goals.
This included a decisive 3-0 defeat of the top team from Barcelona. On top of that, the home side often got off to a flying start in their four Champions League home games—three of the four wins saw them leading at halftime!
Pedro is on a scoring streak
Joao Pedro is also in fine form right now. The Brazilian has found the net in four of the last seven competitive matches, and with this output, he is filling the current gap in the attack caused by the absence of his compatriot Estevao particularly well.
This prediction is also supported by his strong season in the Premier League. In the Premier League, he has a nearly 50% scoring rate with 14 goals in 30 appearances, and his signing from Brighton last summer has long since paid off from Chelsea’s perspective.

PSG – Stats & Current Form
The Londoners had a disappointing group stage in the Champions League and only secured a spot in the Round of 16 by successfully navigating the playoffs against Monaco. In the two matches against AS Monaco, however, the visitors once again demonstrated their potent offense: the Monegasques conceded five goals across the two encounters.
Even during this year’s Champions League group stage, the visitors impressed from an offensive standpoint. Only Arsenal and Bayern scored more goals than the Parisians in the eight CL group stage matches, with the latter averaging 2.6 goals per game.
Last week’s first leg once again confirmed the assessment of a potent offense. They handed the British side no fewer than five goals! The attack has generally been no less efficient on the road. One example was the 7-2 rout in Leverkusen.
Ballon d’Or winner is back at PSG!
Another positive for Paris Saint-Germain is that Ousmane Dembele is available again. The reigning Ballon d’Or winner was injured in the first leg of the playoffs against Monaco and subsequently missed three competitive matches.
However, the former Dortmund player has been available again for the past two matches in Ligue 1 and the Champions League, and in his first start against CFC last week, he also contributed a goal to the 5-2 rout.
Coach Luis Enrique will also be relying heavily on Bradley Barcola. The striker is currently the visitors’ sharpest weapon and has found the net in four of the French side’s last five competitive matches.
Will PSG strike twice again?
Given Paris’s formidable offense, the betting odds for more than one goal by the Ligue 1 champions in the return leg between Chelsea and PSG look particularly promising. This prediction is supported by the fact that the visitors will be more rested than their opponents, as their league match against Nantes from last weekend was rescheduled.

Chelsea – PSG Head-to-Head Record
Chelsea has failed to win any of its last five Champions League matches against PSG (0-2-3).
This is their longest winless streak against an opponent in this competition (also five matches against Bayern between April 2005 and September 2025).
The visitors, meanwhile, are unbeaten in their last five Champions League matches against English teams (4-1-0). Should they avoid defeat again, they would go six games without a loss against a club from the UK in this competition for the first time in their history.
Furthermore, La Coruna is the only team to date to have managed to overturn a three-goal deficit from the first leg against a defending Champions League champion in the knockout stage. The Spaniards achieved this feat in the quarterfinals of the 2003/04 season against Milan, when they followed up a 1-4 away loss with a 4-0 win in front of their own fans. For the upcoming Chelsea vs. PSG match, the odds are now at least moderately favoring a home win.
Chelsea – PSG Prediction
The match between the teams from the Thames and the Seine brings together the reigning Champions League titleholders (the French) and the current Club World Cup winners (the British)! The Londoners secured that latter triumph against PSG in the final in mid-July of last year.
The Chelsea vs. PSG match is therefore an absolute highlight among the Champions League Round of 16 second legs. The first leg was also very entertaining, with a 5-2 home win for the French side.
Due to this heavy defeat, Chelsea can’t afford any major early struggles in the second leg and will play very offensively from the start. This suggests an open match at Stamford Bridge, in which there should be no shortage of scoring chances on both sides. With that in mind, for the Round of 16 second leg between Chelsea and PSG, we’re predicting another game with goals from both sides and more than two goals.
