Will AS Roma remain the most successful away team in Serie A?

Jamie Vardy is shaking up Serie A at the age of 38. Together with fellow striker Federico Bonazzoli (4 goals this season), the English forward (2 goals this season) wants to test Serie A’s most successful defense in the Cremonese vs. AS Roma tip (AS Roma has only conceded 5 goals so far).

The strike duo has scored the last four goals for the promoted team. In addition, La Cremo has already proven its scoring threat against several top teams. Leading up to the Cremonese vs. AS Roma prediction, the Tigers have played four matches against the current top 7 and scored in each encounter (Inter, AC Milan, Juventus & Como).

The bookmakers are therefore showing tact by capping the Cremonese – AS Roma betting odds in their sports betting apps at just under 1.75 for “Cremonese Over 0.5 Goals.” Defensively, however, the promoted team is one of the most vulnerable teams in Serie A (19.17 xGA – 19th place in the league comparison).

This is certainly possible and realistic. The second-placed team from the Italian capital is the best away team on average after the first eleven matchdays (2.40 points per away game) and has won four of five away games. Twelve goals this season is still a bit meager, but the volume and quality of the chances created have increased recently.

Gian Piero Gasperini’s offensive and aggressive pressing has recently helped the team score at least 2.0 expected goals in four of five league games.

Cremonese – AS Roma Head-to-head record

The Grigiorossi fans fondly remember February 2023. It started with a 2-1 away win in the Coppa Italia on February 1 in Rome. The Tigers also ended the second month of the 2023 calendar year with a triumph against the Giallorossi (2-1). However, these results should not unsettle you.

The hosts have conceded the most shots on goal (181) this season and have also conceded the most shots on their own goal (58). Although they have almost always managed to score against the top teams so far, the number of goals conceded has always been higher, for example against Juve (1-2) and Inter (1-4).

Cremonese – AS Roma Tip

With their forechecking, the Romans will probably put the promoted team under pressure early on. Under Gian Piero Gasperini, the Wolves from Rome have initiated the most pressing sequences in the league (136) and allow the second fewest opponent passes per defensive action (9.3).

With a high number of ball recoveries (85 in total – only Como has more), Serie A’s most successful away team has also created many dangerous scoring opportunities. Internalizing the system has recently led to an increasing number of scoring chances and at least 2.0 expected goals in four of the previous five league games.

This trend is continuing against the promoted team, which has the weakest expected goal difference in the league (-7.0 xGD), and a fifth away win in six attempts seems within reach. However, the Giallorossi need to be careful. Although Gasperini’s team allows few shots on goal (116 – fifth in the league), these are relatively dangerous on average.
