Will Eintracht take advantage of the Reds’ crisis?
Eintracht Frankfurt definitely can’t complain about unattractive home opponents in this Champions League season. After Galatasaray visited the Main on the first matchday and was sent back to Istanbul with a 1-5 defeat, the reigning champions from England are now traveling to Hesse. Unlike against the Turkish flagship team around a month ago, however, SGE is not the favorite this time. Instead, the tip for an away win between Frankfurt and Liverpool comes with significantly lower odds.
However, given recent impressions, it is debatable to what extent the very one-sided distribution of odds is justified. The Reds have slipped into a serious crisis, at least since their 1-2 home defeat against Manchester United on Sunday afternoon. The star ensemble from Anfield has now lost four consecutive competitive games. LFC has lost three times in a row away from home. The fact that German betting providers are still predicting a win for the English team ahead of the highlight match between Frankfurt and Liverpool is also due to the Eagles’ room for improvement.
Coach Dino Toppmöller’s team has also won only one of its last five competitive games, showing itself to be extremely vulnerable, especially defensively. The Black, Red, and Whites urgently need to get the huge number of goals they concede under control if they are to have any realistic chance against the stars led by Florian Wirtz and former Eintracht player Hugo Ekitike. Anyone who believes Frankfurt can get a point against Liverpool can bet on the double chance 1X at Merkur Bets at odds of 2.27.
Frankfurt vs. Liverpool AI prediction
LFC has a 61.1% chance of winning the away game in Frankfurt’s Stadtwald. However, the Frankfurt vs. Liverpool AI prediction of at least four goals in the game is far more interesting. Adding up the xG values (1.35 to 2.34) results in an expected total of 3.69 goals. Because the Interwetten app offers a solid 1.95 for over 3.5, there is definitely value to be had.
Frankfurt – Statistics & current form
Twelve goals have been scored in Frankfurt’s first two Champions League games this season. The aforementioned 5-1 rout of Galatasaray was followed by a crushing 5-1 defeat to Atletico Madrid, in which the young SGE team had to learn the hard way. In terms of experience, there is also a world of difference between Eintracht and the star-studded team from Merseyside on Wednesday evening! Accordingly, it would be a huge surprise if the prediction of a point for the home side came true in the clash between Frankfurt and Liverpool.
Will the young Frankfurt team pay for their naivety again?
This is especially true given that their initial momentum has given way to a much weaker phase. While SGE got off to a very successful start to the new season with four wins from their first five competitive games, they have only added one more win in their last five matches. Four of their last seven games across all competitions have been lost. The dress rehearsal at the weekend ended in a 2-2 draw in Freiburg. Once again, it was the far too unstable defense that has been showing obvious deficits for weeks.
Looking back at the last five games, 18 goals conceded is just as disastrous as the fact that the Hessians have conceded at least three goals in five of their last seven matches. However, as the offense led by Can Uzun and Jonny Burkardt is always good for goals, it makes sense to take a closer look at the betting odds for a high-scoring, lively 90 minutes between Frankfurt and Liverpool. If you combine the double chance X2 with at least one goal in both halves, Merkur Bets’ Bet Builder spits out a peak of 1.62.

Liverpool – Statistics & current form
Liverpool Football Club is currently going through a difficult phase. While the start of the season went completely according to plan at both national and international level, the Reds have recently slipped into a real crisis. The reigning English champions have lost four (!) games in a row. In the Premier League, they suffered defeats against Crystal Palace (1-2), Chelsea (1-2) and, most recently, Manchester United (1-2) on Sunday. In their second UEFA Champions League match, the Reds lost 1-0 away to Galatasaray.
Will the Reds shoot their frustration out of their system?
In general, it should be noted that expectations and reality are not particularly well aligned at the moment. This is also supported by the fact that only one of the seven wins so far this season has been by more than one goal. As a rule, the star ensemble from the Beatles’ city has struggled to achieve its successes. Including many last-minute goals and individual actions! That’s exactly why you should be cautious with a three-way bet, or at least a handicap tip, on Wednesday evening.
This is especially true because LFC is significantly weaker away than at home at Anfield Road. Three of the four defeats mentioned above were on foreign soil. Liverpool coach Arne Slot even has a negative record in opposing stadiums in the Champions League. Four wins are offset by five defeats.
The fact that I still expect a positive result from the current third-placed PL team is based on the assumption that the Reds’ offense will be unstoppable against Frankfurt’s very vulnerable defense. Salah, Wirtz, Isak, and Co. want to use this game to build confidence for the tasks ahead. Apart from that, there is also a certain amount of pressure on the English, who, after only three points from their first two CL games, urgently need a win in order not to lose sight of the top eight prematurely.

Frankfurt – Liverpool Head-to-head record / H2H record
The only two direct duels can be safely disregarded. At the time of the first round of the UEFA Cup in 1972, some of the parents of the players who will be on the pitch on Wednesday evening were probably not even born yet. The fact that Liverpool won 2-0 (2-0, 0-0) over two legs is therefore completely irrelevant to the upcoming match.
What is more interesting is that LFC has a very strong record against German clubs. In the last 15 encounters, the Reds have celebrated ten wins, drawn four times, and suffered only one defeat. Liverpool has even prevailed against Bundesliga clubs five times in a row recently. Last season, they celebrated victories against RB Leipzig (1-0) and Bayer Leverkusen (4-0).
Frankfurt – Liverpool Tip
For Eintracht Frankfurt, Wednesday evening’s home game is once again an absolute highlight. The fans are hoping for another magical European Cup night for their team, even though confidence in their beloved club has suffered somewhat recently. 18 goals conceded in the last five competitive games are clear evidence that the defense is not currently performing at the level needed to dream of a surprise coup against the English champions.
However, the Reds are also struggling with a few issues at the moment. Despite a spectacular transfer window in the summer and the reinforcements they received, the team is floundering, having lost four games in a row recently and conceding at least one goal in almost every game this season. My main Frankfurt vs. Liverpool tip is therefore not necessarily for an away win, but for the match combo X2 & goal in both halves, which I am betting on at Merkur Bets at 1.62 with seven units as my stake.
