Will Gala bring the Reds to their knees again?

With the clash between the Turkish champions and the reigning English title holders, the UEFA Champions League finally enters its hot phase on Tuesday evening with an early kick-off at 6:45 p.m.

While consistency was probably Liverpool Football Club’s greatest asset on their way to the English championship last season, their performances this season have been far too inconsistent! Just three days later, however, they took immediate revenge in the FA Cup (3-1).

Given the inconsistent performances that have been a recurring theme throughout the 2025/26 season, I am deliberately refraining from predicting an away win ahead of Galatasaray’s first leg against Liverpool! This is particularly because the Reds do not necessarily have to play for a win in Istanbul, but would certainly be satisfied with a draw with a view to the return leg at Anfield Road.

Although coach Arne Slot’s team is stronger individually and the majority of LFC players logically have more international experience, it must be noted that the Reds have repeatedly failed to perform at their best in recent times, especially away from home. The men from the Beatles’ city have only left the field as winners in five of the nine away games they have played since the turn of the year.

If you think it’s too risky to bet on the double chance 1X or to put the under 2.5 after 90 minutes on your betting slip, you still have the option, from a statistical point of view, to place a bet on a low-scoring first half. Even a draw would definitely satisfy Slot’s team.
