Will the Foals celebrate their first goal?
Two struggling teams face each other in the third round of the German Bundesliga, with Gladbach taking on Werder Bremen, and we have a tip for you! Both teams are still waiting for a win and have only one point to their credit.
On the other hand, their difficulties at the start of the season come as little surprise, as both the Foals and the kickers from the Weser are plagued by injuries. This particularly affects the offenses: the home team is missing top striker Tim Kleindienst, among others, and the visitors are missing their midfield mastermind Mitchell Weiser.
However, the North Germans are coping better with this shortcoming than the home team, as they have still managed to score four goals. In contrast, the soccer players from the Lower Rhine are still waiting for their first goal of the season after two rounds of games for the first time in 23 years!
However, Werder’s stronger haul must be put into perspective. Steffen’s team scored three goals in their last match alone against a Leverkusen team that was falling apart. We are not expecting a goal fest and are predicting a maximum of three goals in the Gladbach vs. Werder Bremen match.
Gladbach vs. Werder Bremen AI prediction
Our artificial intelligence has compared the available odds and calculated the probabilities of victory for both teams, discovering value in the odds for a win for the visitors. BETSiE puts the probability of a Werder win at 38.4 percent, which is higher than the odds of 3.70 offered by NEO.bet (as of 10.09.2025, 11:15 a.m.) for this outcome.
This translates into a probability of 27 percent, which is more than ten percentage points lower, which is why the AI Gladbach vs. Werder Bremen prediction favors a win for the Weser kickers.
Gladbach – Statistics & current form
Gladbach lost several offensive players in the summer. Plea moved to PSV Eindhoven and the Czech Cvancara was loaned to Antalyaspor in the Süperlig. On top of that, as mentioned at the beginning, another regular in the attack, Tim Kleindienst, is currently out.
Although Machino, a talented striker from relegated Kiel, has been signed, the Japanese player has also been struggling in recent weeks and still needs to acclimatize. The extent to which the absence of Plea and Kleindienst weakens the hosts can be seen from the fact that the duo scored 27 goals in the previous season, almost half of all Gladbach’s goals (55)!
No more than one goal for Gladbach?
Given this personnel situation, it is easy to see why the hosts are the only team in the league besides HSV that have not yet scored. For the upcoming match between Gladbach and Werder Bremen, we therefore also recommend betting on a maximum of one goal for the hosts.
While the home side’s attacking play still leaves much to be desired, Gladbach’s defense can at least be said to be in decent early form. They conceded only one goal in their recent defeat in Stuttgart.
Coach Gerardo Seoane’s team cannot count on a home advantage, however. Last season, Borussia only had a balanced home record (7-3-7). In contrast, the hosts can rely on their coach’s strong statistics in this fixture: Seoane is unbeaten in five Bundesliga games against SV Werder Bremen (2-3-0)!

Werder Bremen – Statistics & current form
The eighth-placed team from last season is still missing several strong offensive players from last season, such as Mitchell Weiser and Jens Stage. Add to that the departure of Marvin Ducksch, and Werder currently has to do without three of its four best offensive players from last season.
The personnel shortage in the offensive part of the team has not gone unnoticed by the club’s management, of course, which is why they recently made another move in the transfer market. Victor Boniface was loaned from Leverkusen as a powerful center forward. The Nigerian is undoubtedly a top striker, but it remains to be seen whether he can help Werder quickly.
Due to injuries, Boniface has hardly been on the pitch in recent months and, in our opinion, he lacks competitive practice and certainly also the necessary fitness. For the moment, we do not see his signing as a real improvement in coach Horst Steffen’s offense.
In the upcoming match, the coach now also has a personnel problem in defense. The reason is that Niklas Stark has to sit out against Gladbach due to a red card from the last matchday. His absence is a real blow for Werder.
Since his move to the Weser in the summer of 2022, Bremen have lost half of the 32 league games in which he has not been on board. His importance to the visitors is further highlighted by the fact that with him in the starting lineup, they have an average of 1.4 points per game, while without him, that average drops to 1.0.
No winner between Borussia and Werder?
Despite the aforementioned personnel problems for the visitors, we consider Bremen and Gladbach to be on a similar level in terms of play, which is why we expect a close game. Against this backdrop, we believe that the Gladbach vs. Werder Bremen betting odds for a draw are also attractive.

Gladbach – Werder Bremen Head-to-head comparison / H2H record
Gladbach won both matches against Werder in the past Bundesliga season, scoring four goals in each game! Thanks to these two victories, the hosts are unbeaten in five matches (2-3-0) in this fixture. Furthermore, the “Foals” have won more Bundesliga games against 1. FC Köln (52) than against Bremen (43), and Borussia are unbeaten in 13 Bundesliga home games against SV Werder (8-5-0)!
The North Germans’ last away league win dates back to October 2010 (4-1)! For the next edition of Gladbach vs. Werder Bremen, the odds point to a continuation of this streak.
Gladbach – Werder Bremen Tip
In the recent past, this pairing has been a guarantee for plenty of goals. No fewer than 35 goals were scored in the last seven encounters! Despite this enormous flood of goals, we are opting for a maximum of three goals in the next meeting between Gladbach and Werder Bremen.
Both teams are currently playing with depleted attacking lines, and the hosts have not scored at all this season. If we include last season in our review, Gladbach have now gone four Bundesliga games without scoring! However, as the home side’s defense has been solid, conceding only one goal, we expect a relatively low-scoring match at Borussia-Park this time around.
