Goals galore in Kraichgau?

A top match is coming up in the German top flight with Hoffenheim against Leverkusen, and Wettbasis presents the tip and current odds. The home team is in fifth place and the visitors are right behind them.

However, due to recent game cancellations, both teams have played one game less than most of their direct competitors in the top third of the table. TSG and Bayer have been impressive offensively this season, but another parallel is their shaky defenses.

For this reason, there is usually no shortage of goals in TSG and Werkself games. An average of four goals are scored in Sinsheim’s home games, and in Bayer’s away games the average is even 4.1 – the second-highest figure in the Bundesliga away table!

We therefore do not expect a shortage of goals and are predicting more than two goals and goals from both sides in the match between Hoffenheim and Leverkusen. This prediction is supported by the statistics for this fixture: no fewer than the last nine meetings between the two clubs have also ended with more than two goals, and only once without goals from both sides!

Hoffenheim vs. Leverkusen Prediction AI

AI has identified value in the odds for a maximum of three goals in its check-up of the match at the PreZero Arena. This assessment is based on our artificial intelligence estimating the expected goals value at 2.98.

Hoffenheim – Statistics & current form

TSG has been stable so far this season, and one of the Kraichgauers’ strengths is their ability to successfully manage leads. The home team has scored the first goal seven times, and none of these matches were subsequently lost from the hosts’ perspective. Even better: only one of them did not end in a win!

In attack, Austrian coach Christian Ilzer can also rely on four prolific players in his squad. We are talking about Tim Lemperle, Grischa Prömel, Fisnik Asllani, and veteran Andrej Kramarić – each of whom has scored at least five times this season.

Thanks to this variability in their attacking play, TSG are difficult for opposing defenses to predict. This also explains why Hoffenheim have already scored 34 goals this season – together with their upcoming opponents, this is the third-best tally in the league.

TSG has reactivated its home strength

Furthermore, the players from Sinsheim have recently been very strong at home. After failing to score any points in their first three home games this season, they now have a flawless record of five wins from their last five home games. In each of these games, they set the course for success in the first half, as all three points were secured with a half-time lead!

In light of this home revival, the betting odds for a draw in the match between Hoffenheim and Leverkusen also appear lucrative. The decision to predict a draw is based on the fact that, although the hosts are undoubtedly strong at home at the moment, their opponents are at least their equals in terms of play.

On top of that, Bayer will be physically fresher after the game in Hamburg was canceled last Tuesday evening, while TSG still had to play against Gladbach last Wednesday.

Another positive for the hosts is the return of Albian Hajdari to the squad. The powerful Kosovar was recently suspended from Hoffenheim’s defense, and in the three games this season without him, TSG recorded only one win (1-1-1).

Leverkusen – Statistics & current form

Bayer are quickly finding their feet in league games this season: after Bayern, coach Kasper Hjulmand’s team have scored the most goals in the first halves! The Werkself have scored 21 of their 34 goals this season before the break. Furthermore, Leverkusen have always scored the first goal in their last three meetings with Hoffenheim!

Another positive for Bayer is that Patrik Schick is likely to be available in attack. The club’s best striker recently missed the start of the second half of the season due to injury, but is now expected to be available again. What’s more, he has a good record against the upcoming opponents: he has scored in two of his last three starts against TSG.

Leverkusen’s defense often shaky before the break

One of the visitors’ shortcomings, however, is that while their offense works quickly in the first half, their defense does not. Bayer has already conceded 15 goals this season. By comparison, they have conceded only nine goals in the second half.

An example of the defense’s lack of commitment before the break was Leverkusen’s last game against Stuttgart, when VfB had already scored four times before the half-time whistle. Due to this combination of an attack that gets into the game quickly and a defense that takes a long time to get going, Leverkusen’s first halves are particularly high-scoring.

No fewer than 36 goals have already been scored in the first halves of the BayArena team’s league games this season – the second-highest number in the league after Bayern Munich with 36 goals, but they also have one more game under their belt.

Against this backdrop, the odds on more than one goal before the break are also worth considering in the showdown between Hoffenheim and Leverkusen.

Hoffenheim – Leverkusen Head-to-head comparison / H2H record

The last direct duel took place in Leverkusen in August last year and ended in a 2-1 away win for TSG. Thanks to the three points, Hoffenheim ended a previous run of five defeats against the Werkself. For the upcoming match between Hoffenheim and Leverkusen, the odds do not show a clear favorite – instead, they are very evenly distributed.

Hoffenheim – Leverkusen Tip

Hoffenheim and Bayer are two of the Bundesliga’s top teams, both of which are particularly impressive from an offensive perspective, while their defenses have room for improvement. For this reason, there is no shortage of goals in the matches between the two clubs.

This is particularly true for TSG’s home games and Leverkusen’s away games. If we narrow our focus to these two constellations, the already high average number of goals of 3.4 for TSG and 3.6 for Bayer rises once again to at least four goals!

For the match at the PreZero Arena between Hoffenheim and Leverkusen, the prediction is therefore for both sides to score and for there to be more than two goals. This is also supported by the fact that the match-up has traditionally been high-scoring: the prediction would have been successful in each of the last six meetings between the two clubs!

Furthermore, the predicted course of the game is also almost the norm for both clubs in the current season: it has already been observed in the clear majority (6) of the eight home games played by Kraichgau and in five of the seven away games played by Werkself!
