‘Blues’ rely on their away strength!

Leeds are not fans of “English weeks”: only one of their last twelve midweek PL games ended in a win for the Steel City side, and they lost half of them. Read our preview to find out which Leeds vs. Chelsea tip is best for Wednesday evening’s match at Elland Road!

Leeds coach Daniel Farke will be approaching the match with mixed feelings: the German has lost all three of his Premier League games against Chelsea so far! The defeats came while he was coach of Norwich between 2019 and 2021, with a disastrous goal difference of 2:11.

His recent home performances will also give him little hope: only three points from the same number of home games quickly show that the “Whites” have been vulnerable in front of their own fans recently.

The Londoners are a strong away team, having won two-thirds of their six league games on the road this season and ranking second in the Premier League away table! Against this backdrop, the Leeds vs. Chelsea prediction is for an away win for the capital club.

However, we also expect the hosts to score before the break: Five of United’s seven Premier League goals in front of their own fans this season have been scored in the first half of games (71 percent).

In the first 45 minutes, the hosts have a goal ratio of 10 percent (5 goals from 50 shots), which drops to 4.7 percent in the second half (2 goals from 43 shots)! At least before the break, the hosts are therefore quite dangerous in front of goal in their home games.

Leeds – Chelsea Head-to-head record

Leeds have won only one of their last nine Premier League games against Chelsea (1-2-6). However, their only victory came in their last meeting at Elland Road in August 2022 (3-0).

Chelsea, on the other hand, have won only six of their 48 away games in Leeds (6-13-29) – only at Sheffield Wednesday (12 percent) does CFC have a lower away win rate than against the Whites (12.5 percent – at least 20 games).

Regardless, the odds for the upcoming match between Leeds and Chelsea point to an away win for coach Enzo Maresca’s team.

Leeds – Chelsea Tip

While the home side are at the bottom of the table, the visitors from the Thames are fighting for the top spot. Chelsea recently recorded a respectable 1-1 draw in their top-of-the-table clash with leaders Arsenal. The point can even be considered a triumph, as the Blues played more than half the game with only ten men on the pitch due to Caicedo’s sending off.

The fact that they still managed to get a point against the league leaders shows the enormous quality of the CFC squad. The offense in particular has been reliable this season. Only the Gunners and second-placed Manchester City have scored more goals than the Blues in the league.

What’s more, Chelsea have been enjoying their travels this season: after six away games, the Londoners have a whopping 13 points and no other team scores more often on the road. In contrast, the hosts have recently lost some of their home strength, suffering defeats against Aston Villa and Tottenham in their last three home games.

In addition, they are only moderately effective in front of their own fans from an offensive perspective: only Burnley and Wolverhampton score fewer goals at home. In light of this situation, the Leeds vs. Chelsea betting odds for an away win appear lucrative!
