When will Liverpool stabilize?

On Saturday evening, Premier League newcomers Leeds will face reigning champions Liverpool. In terms of the table, 17th-placed Leeds will host eighth-placed Liverpool. Leeds secured their third home win of the season with a 3-1 victory over Chelsea during the week, while Liverpool recorded their first draw of the Premier League season with a 1-1 draw at home to Sunderland.

The Whites’ home games have been very entertaining and high-scoring recently – in the last five, both teams have scored in each game, with at least three goals being scored in each. That’s why this event is also included in our tip for Leeds vs. Liverpool.

Leeds recently celebrated an important 3-1 win against Chelsea after losing four games in a row. Now the hosts are looking to win two Premier League games in a row for the first time since October/November 2022 – which included a win against Liverpool. However, they traditionally struggle against the Reds: In the last twelve direct encounters, Leeds have only managed one win, a 2-1 victory at Anfield in October 2022. Even though the Reds are not at their best at the moment, we are predicting an away win in our Leeds vs. Liverpool prediction.

The record against the reigning champions also looks bleak, with only one win in the last 16 meetings. At home, Leeds have been waiting for a win against a defending champion since a 1-0 victory in May 1999. However, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who recently scored against Manchester City and Chelsea, gives cause for hope and could now score in three consecutive Premier League games for the first time since August 2021.

Liverpool travel with a mixed away record. The Reds have lost seven of their last eleven Premier League away games, after previously suffering only seven away defeats in a period of 45 games. At least they are unbeaten in six league games in Leeds, winning four of them, including a resounding 6-1 victory in April 2023. When Liverpool score the first goal, things usually go their way this season – they have won all seven games of this type. However, as soon as the Reds fall behind, the game turns on its head: they have lost six of the seven games after conceding a goal. As we are predicting an away win in our forecast, the Reds will of course need to take the lead.

Leeds – Liverpool Head-to-head record

In a total of 103 matches between Leeds and Liverpool, the Reds have a clear advantage. They have won 55 games, while Leeds have won 24. The two teams have drawn just as many times. The goal difference is 174:98 in Liverpool’s favor.

Leeds – Liverpool Tip

Leeds United goes into this game against Liverpool with some momentum, as Farke’s team beat the in-form Blues during the week to secure their third home win of the season.

Goals are currently guaranteed at Elland Road – 17 goals have been scored in the last five games, with both teams scoring in every game. Historically, this is also a high-scoring fixture, with 272 goals scored in 103 games, giving an average of 2.6 goals per game.

However, Leeds have shown weaknesses against the Reds, winning only one of their last twelve encounters, and the Whites have only managed one win in their last 16 games against the reigning champions.

But Liverpool FC are also known to be out of form – Arne Slot’s team have lost seven of their last eleven PL away games and have only picked up seven of a possible 27 points in their last nine PL games.
