Will Poland secure the crucial three points?

In the wake of a disagreement with coach Michal Probierz, who was subsequently dismissed, Robert Lewandowski boycotted the international match in Finland in June this year – with far-reaching consequences. The Bialo-Czerwoni (English: the White and Reds) suffered their only defeat in Group G so far, which currently puts them three points behind leaders the Netherlands.

In Kaunas, however, the Orly’s record goalscorer will be back in action, which is why the tip for Lithuania vs. Poland is that the Polish team will remain within striking distance of the Elftal with an important away win.

The Lithuanian team has only picked up three points so far and has been waiting for another win for 14 international games (four draws, ten defeats). Not even the two games against underdogs Malta could be won by the Tricolors (Lithuanian: Trispalves). Both games ended in a draw. Although Lithuania managed to keep a clean sheet for a long time in the first leg in Warsaw, Lewandowski scored the goal for a 1-0 home win in the 81st minute. However, in our opinion, it will still not be enough for Lithuania to earn a point against Poland. We therefore recommend the match combo on an away win for Poland with a maximum of four goals in the game.

It would also be conceivable to bet on another goal from Robert Lewandowski, who has only scored twice in the current World Cup qualifiers, which is why the Bet365 app offers odds of 1.58 for him to score in Lithuania vs. Poland.

Lithuania – Poland Head-to-head record

Head to head: 2 – 3 – 6

Eleven international matches have been played between the two nations so far, and with six wins, the Polish national soccer team clearly leads the head-to-head record against Lithuania. The Bialo-Czerwoni are currently unbeaten in four matches against the Baltic team (three wins, one draw) and already won the first leg of the World Cup qualifier in Warsaw 1–0.

Lithuania – Poland Tip

All in all, the trend in Lithuania vs. Poland is towards an away win for the Bialo-Czerwoni, who still have a chance of qualifying directly for the 2026 World Cup, but must do so by taking all three points in the Baltic states in order to have a chance of reaching a kind of final in mid-November in Warsaw against group leaders the Netherlands. The Orly undoubtedly have what it takes, having won five of their last seven international matches (one draw, one defeat), but after two clean-sheet victories at the start of their third qualifying match, they surprisingly failed in Helsinki. Admittedly, however, this was without Robert Lewandowski, whose boycott overshadowed this away game at the time.

The visitors desperately need a win, and the Lithuanian team, which has not won in 14 international matches (four draws, ten defeats) and has not been able to record a victory even against nations such as Malta, is likely to lack the playing resources to prevent the Bialo-Czerwoni from securing this victory. We don’t expect a particularly high away win, but we do expect the Orly to leave Kaunas with three points on Sunday evening.

We therefore recommend the match combo on tip 2 with under 4.5 goals, for which ODDSET is offering betting odds of 1.61 for Lithuania against Poland.
